    I bought Dr. Sarno's "Healing Back Pain" on the recommendation of a friend. Made perfect sense, but I didn't HAVE back pain. So I promptly put the book aside and forgot about it.

    I moved to Ohio, the place of my birth, to help my aging parents. Then I DID have back pain, sciatica specifically. I went to WebMD and other online medical sources. Followed conventional treatment suggestions. Nothing worked. So the online medical experts suggested increasingly invasive treatments. Hmm...

    Dr. Sarno! I reread the book. It still made sense. But how could I trust it?? I wanted to talk to a real human with real results. After some TMS research, I found the wiki and the Saturday drop-in chat. And there I found REAL people with REAL success. Forrest suggested I brainstorm a list about the possible causes, carry the list around for a couple days, then throw the list away. About 15 minutes after I finished my possibility list, my sciatica was gone. 100% gone. Absolutely gone. Gone.

    I never threw the list away. I stuck it in the book. I'll bet my list sounds a lot like yours. Here it in, in part: my parents, my ex, my brother, past mistakes, lost opportunities, my kids, meaning of life, my job, the landlord, traffic, mold, pesticides, my love life, my future ...

    Every now and then, I get some physical or emotional or spiritual problem. I apply the Sarno technique, and I get results. Maybe not always 100% results, but certainly success along the margins. And sometimes complete success. Today I look to broaden the TMS approach to most things. Who knows what powers we hold!?!

    A shout-out to all the kind, smart, and helpful people I've met on the Saturday afternoon drop-in chat. Matthew, Jan, Bruce, others -- thank you! I check in when I can, just to remember what I already know. And to keep learning. Onward!
