How to Decide When to See a Doctor

    Hey everyone,

I was curious what everyone's thoughts are on when to see a doctor.I constantly find myself struggling with deciding if I should see a doctor when new symptoms develop and evolve.

I am currently having dull pains and aches in my collarbone/shoulder area, especially when moving certain ways. I haven't had any impact injury. The only thing I could possibly contribute this to is weightlifting, I started feeling the pain one day while doing shrugs. Looking back, I have noticed this pain in the past with working out (or even laying on my side) but it always seemed to resolve.

I am afraid to see a specialist to rule out anything serious, as I have had experiences in the past where structural issues are found, but do not necessarily indicate the source of the pain.

In the past, the tipping point came when fearful thoughts were all-consuming and I needed professional reassurance. This said the longer one tarries in the TMS arena, the more clarity and confidence you garner in challenging it. With time this understanding yokes itself to an internal faith and surety that enables you to forge ahead with your own healing path, be this physical, emotional or spiritual. In the early days though it can be helpful to have a good doctor, and by good I mean sensible, grounded and clued in to the nature of stress and such.

After about 1 year on my TMS journey, I started getting violent frequent cramps. I panicked and asked my doctor for magnesium test. Cramps almost disappeared as soon as blood was drawn and before the test results came back. Guess what my magnesium level was? You are correct, it was perfect. We had a good laugh together.

I think you should go and visit a doctor, he will examine you and make a diagnosis and prescribe treatment. You can't just wait for your pain to become unbearable and then you go to the doctor.
