  • My Story

I first developed TMS with carpal tunnel symptoms. After three years of not being able to play my guitar, I discovered Dr. Sarno's work. Like so many people on here, that changed everything for me — not overnight, of course, but in good time and with effort. I can now play for many hours without issue.

Right after I graduated college, an ENT diagnosed me with a nodule on my left vocal cord. I am a singer, and had been gigging with a vocal infection at the time. My mind went to TMS, but the doctor could see the nodule, so that was that. Of interest: after the six-month healing prognosis, I was still feeling the pain on the left side of my throat. I went back to be scoped again, and the doctor said "there's nothing there anymore. You're good. A week after that, the pain disappeared.

Fast forward about four years and I developed that same pain in the left side of my throat. Like, exactly the same spot and feeling of gravelly "stuckness." Shit. Well, I got scoped and they said there's nothing there.

I hoped that the pain would go away then and there, like it had the first time, but it has not been so easy this time around.

So... I'm back here going through readings and learning more about this stuff. It will never cease to amazing me just how powerful the brain is.

Best of luck to everyone here on their journey to healing. In my experience, chances are VERY high that you're in the right spot.
