Nerve Pain in Feet....

    Hi all,

Been really struggling with nerve issues in both feet and calves - for almost 3 months they twitch, spasm, near cramp, stabbing pain, deep ache pain, pins and needles, deep cold, and lots of burning pain - rotating in and out but constant - calves also burn at times and twitch. Also feeling balance off and weak feeling legs.

I've now been to 3 Neuros, done bloodwork, another brain MRI, EMG, Nerve Conduction. Nothing has shown up other than low testosterone. All three Neuros including my regular tell me I'm fine, but the symptoms are just off the charts. I was told by 1 maybe SFN but he won't test for that. I've had burning feet in the past and twitching but nothing like this.

    Any thoughts?

Can't speak to burning/pain but I had numb feet/calves and sometimes up to my legs during long covid, while most other people who had feet/leg issues w/ long covid were similar to yours. All my long covid symptoms resolved with this work, and my numbness was once so bad I couldn't walk or operate my feet for a week.

TMS can present in so many ways. Lots of people including myself have had similar symptoms all over their body.
A classic Dr. Sarno case was a tv producer with horrific foot symptoms. She couldn’t walk.. and then did! Her symptoms subsided, thanks to Dr. Sarno!

    thank you for the replies.

Given I've had no obvious injury or infection, and given that so far specialist doctors have found nothing concerning to them, I'm thinking TMS - maybe less in the pure Sarno sense of distraction, but perhaps rather in the chronic (years) burnout of daily stress/anxiety/work and the mind-body saying 'no'

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. Mine do all that plus twitch and spasm - and it also impacts the tongue (burning) and hands to a less degree (more the burning, sensitivity to pain) - no obvious cause or accident. I just got back from camping for a number of days and the symptoms were no better (but I was with 3 kids and the Mrs. in a tiny trailer) but I did do a multi-mile walk across rock, beach, driftwood, all very uneven, and other than pain did just fine.

Maybe I wasn't clear in my message. My point was not about camping or hiking being a curative procedure for anyone with TMS. It is about taking your mind away from pain and doing what you love doing without stress. I always feel revived in the wilderness - so my pain went away. You need to find your way to heal from TMS. The number of your symptoms in various body parts is a clear indicator that you have TMS. Important to note that it took me 2 years to fully heal from the TMS symptoms that I had, and it involved much more than backpacking trips. I highly recommend meditation, as it was the main medicine for me, and I know several other people who had the same outcome.

    Hi TG,

No your message was clear - I was just commenting that I too like to get away and did, but with all the kids n' stuff even that is hard. I think I probably need to chop firewood alone for like 6 months - or maybe work at a forest fire watchtower for the summer. Things just keep coming at me - even while camping I did a radio interview over some BS political issue. I've had odd issues for some 25 years, and surprise surprise it's been getting worse since the bonus baby (whom I love deeply but can be so demanding), COVID, and a second job in a bush-league political office. Still thank you.
