    HI!
    Sorry for my englisch, I m from Holland.
    One Year ago it started with a sequester herniated disk L5S1
    After half a year I got emergensy surgery and woke up in more pain
    Again I followed al kinds of therapies and still have to lay down for about 23 hours a day now. Wheelchair is in now and I can t sit, walk or stand for long time SO I lay down.
    This week I have started the program online and I read a lot about TMS. Very hopefull but also obsesivly with TMS
    My question;
    I try to resumé my activitis as driving the car or walk for 10 minutes. When is the time to built iT up after one year of laying flat in pain.
    I think I go to fast because my pain increases now.
    Thank you!

    I would say build up slowly. You can compare it to a marathon runner that started with short runs in the beginning and gradually increased the length. This will help you build up confidence again in your body without alarming yourself.

    Hi Daantje and welcome to the forum!

    I agree with birdsetfree. Build up slowly. Even though I've been healed for well over a year, I've been hesitate to use my elliptical for exercise. The last time I used it was right before I had my physical breakdown in late 2014. I still mentally associate the elliptical with back pain. Since I could no longer justify watching it sit in the corner gathering dust, I started using it again this past week. I'm taking it very slowly. The first day was only 10 minutes, but it seemed like an enormous victory. This morning, I was tempted to go for 30 minutes but decided not to. I don't want to give my brain any ammunition to believe that I'm hurting myself. I will eventually work up to 30 or 45 minutes, but I have plenty of time.

    Along with the educational programs on this Wiki, I recommend listening to podcasts. As part of my recovery, I still listen to at least three a week to reinforce my belief in TMS. At my lowest point, it hurt to hold a book so listening to podcasts was something I could do while lying flat on my back. Here are just a few that I find helpful. Good luck and don't worry about your English. You communicate beautifully!
