My complete recovery from RSI, or, how I learned to stop worrying and love my hands

I don't really remember if they got cold or not. It's not really too important whether you have the exact same symptoms as I did, every body's nervous system is different and will do different things. I know that you're trying to match your symptoms to mine to convince yourself you have TMS and...

I didn't get tingling so much as pain and tightness. But everyone experiences it differently; I know tingling is a common TMS symptom for a lot of people.

My complete recovery from RSI, or, how I learned to stop worrying and love my hands

Yay, it's great that you've started on your healing journey :) I know it's easier said than done, but try not to focus too much on the pain as it comes and goes - you'll have bad days, and good days. It's the overall trend that's important. Trust the process, and in your own strength <3

My complete recovery from RSI, or, how I learned to stop worrying and love my hands

So my story begins in 2012, when I was in the last few months of my PhD. My studies were not going well, and I'd just had a year of sh*t piled on me (Mum got diagnosed with a terminal illness, my long term partner and I broke up, and I had a cancer scare and had to have surgery). So I was, to...

Hit a low point with this damn jaw of mine

Hi Walt, I'm not sure - I think I was just taking a break from essay writing, making a cup of tea. But that's a good idea, I'll try to think about what's causing the pain next time I notice it get worse.

Hit a low point with this damn jaw of mine

Hi all, thanks for the thoughtful replies. I'm going to give journalling another go, and perhaps try some different approaches. I've also just started some somatic exercises for the jaw, because I think part of the problem is that my nervous system has got wired up wrong - autonomic reflexes...

Hi Jazzhands, thanks for the encouragement. Ouch jaw surgery doesn't sound fun! Glad to hear you're doing ok though.

Hit a low point with this damn jaw of mine

Hi all, So I had great success treating my RSI with the tms wiki, but I've mentioned before that I now get pain in my jaw, as a 'replacement' symptom. Although I am clearly not cured, I still see this as a great step forward because before my RSI was a genuine disability, and now my jaw pain...

Night time anxiety and ongoing jaw clenching

Hi Herbie, thanks for the tip - I'll give it a go next time. I was also thinking about getting a book about reducing anxiety, I wonder if anyone has any suggestions?

Night time anxiety and ongoing jaw clenching

Hi guys, I haven't posted in a while on here, in large part because I started my new degree course and I've just been insanely busy, working on that full time plus working to pay the rent part time! Some of you know a bit about me - I had 'RSI' hand and arm pain, which I've successfully...

    Anyone had TMJ issues?

Thanks Forest. I actually did see a doctor, about earache, but I also mentioned my jaw as it could have been related. She was very sympathetic and said bruxing and stress could easily cause my symptoms. She seemed concerned about my psychological wellbeing, and is referring me for counselling or...
