Journaling has become my daily relief valve, painkiller, lightning rod, oracle. Don’t have to make myself do it anymore; I just want to. Apr 3, 2025 at 9:46 AM

  • My Story

I have been fighting TMS all my life. In the past, my symptoms would go away over time if I ignored them. After I learned about Dr. Sarno in 2017, I had one book healing, and then my TMS returned with a vengeance. During the pandemic, I became extremely anxious as most people did. I hovered over the news incessantly, which didn’t help me at all. I also had about five or six personal and family issues going on that were extremely difficult for me and an abusive childhood. Thus, my symptoms exploded —and took over pretty much my whole body. I’m not diagnosed, but I have all the symptoms of complex regional pain syndrome. I’ve had so many strange sensations related to anxiety and adrenaline, I can’t even list them all here. But believe me, adrenaline can cause total havoc in your body.

In the past year of being on this forum, I can’t even name all the things I have learned. Incredibly valuable and important things! I wouldn’t want go back to who I was before or the life I had before. And that is saying a lot because I’m still in pain and debilitated. However, I have full confidence that if I don’t give up, I will overcome this TMS.

Noticing that self pity and self absorption causes symptoms to flare. Not the other way around.

Today I “walked” 25 minutes around the living room and kitchen and it was fun and I was surprisingly strong doing it. :)

Kind of in a rut. Slowing things down if I can. I’m so obsessive. Agh!

Had a great day today! Lounged around like a teen and played games on my phone and told myself life is awesome. Less pain!

This is interesting! Woke up in really bad pain today. Played classic rock trivia with my husband for an hour. It subsided a lot. Ha!

Symptoms up today. Meditated for an hour. They subsided a bit. I’m starting to think journaling and meditation are key for me.

Tonight I did some volunteer work and I totally completely forgot about TMS. That was a great feeling!

Got my hair done today! Walked the farthest I have walked in more than 6 months. My body tried to shut me down, but I laughed at it.

New to the wiki, but not new to Dr. Sarno. Together we can make it.
