I started exercising about a month ago. I used everything I have to drum up the strength and determination to do it. I thought my symptoms might flare, so I had avoided it. But, it turned out to not be so bad. And now I love it!

Now, I’m going to build on that success and use graduated exposure to stand longer and do things in the kitchen. I’m going to use the same attitude I use when I exercise. No fear. Anticipation of enjoying it—even if it’s hard. (Right now it’s very hard.)

The initial goal: I’m going to walk the living room in 20 min. increments per day. (Starting with 1 per day.) And I’m going to stand up in the kitchen in 5 min. increments a day (starting with 3 per day).

Every TMS healing goal is achievable in small enough increments and with consistency and courage!

This is from Hope and Help for Your Nerves, by Claire Weekes. (The most essential book ever!)

    COURAGE

Courage has the extraordinary quality of being there if truly wanted. If you want, earnestly enough, to be courageous, you will be. If you fail, re-examine yourself and you will find you have misled yourself. You only thought you wanted to be brave, you did not actually feel the urge. To be conscious of a real urge, you must feel it strongly within yourself, in the pit of your stomach, so that you can almost put your finger on the spot. In other words, this wanting must come well forward in your consciousness and not be tucked away, overlaid by wishy-washy wishing.

What’s hard for you now? What’s your dream? What little bite-sized goals can you break it down into?

My ultimate goal is to walk unassisted again. Soon!
