Back from vacation, "checking" causing trouble

    Hi everyone!
I'm back from a trip to Georgia with my family. It was both hard and good. The driving was massively triggering for my eyes, sigh. I'm getting used to progressive lenses in my glasses and "checking" has been giving me lots of trouble. Hate it. Hate the constant watching of myself, never living intuitively. But I'm afraid to let go because things have INSTRUCTIONS. That I might get WRONG if I'm not CAREFULLY WATCHING EVERYTHING I DO AND FEEL.
So hard. Maybe I could just let go and live and I would adjust to the new lenses just fine. (I think I'm about 50% adjusted.) But I am afraid to let go, because what if it makes things worse!
Also dealing with lots of anticipatory anxiety as my trip to Spain approaches (I leave on Saturday).
Headache, dizziness, all the fun things!
I hope you have all had a good week and weekend!

@dlane2530 Re your eyes, some questions for you... Is your vision worse in hot weather and in hot environments and/or in strong sunlight and better in cold weather and cool environments (like in an air conditioned store or house) and better in the shade and when you're wearing sunglasses? Does one or both of your eyelids droop at all?

No to all of these. Which is probably good! Except somewhat more sensitive to strong sunlight. I had much worse light sensitivity previously.

What happens in the strong sunlight, do you get binocular double vision? (Bdv being where if you cover one eye and leave the other eye uncovered, the vision improves.)

I have always said that TMS is just OCD of the Body. Your quote here could have come from me when I was involved in an episode. Instructions.....if only I knew exactly what to do I could finally relax and trust the system, But What about......??????
    and What if.....??????
and if I do something wrong??????

Those are all the voice of TMS and OCD. The Good news is That is EXACTLY when you are supposed to do the work that Sarno wrote about on Pg. 77. That's it. You couldn't have communicated it any better!

"But Marc, why would I turn my thoughts to things I am upset about while I am already anxious about_______?"

Because right there in that moment is where the Dis-ease that is based on Distracting you and occupying your mind is strutting in its full Glory. IT thinks it's helping you.

By turning your mind forcefully to another painful situation, you are screaming at your unconscious
"Thanks but I do NOT NEED YOUR HELP!"

You are fighting Fire with Fire. I remember scribbling that down 25 years ago...and it hasn't stopped working. It is totally NOT intuitive and I never would have come to that thought by myself, but once I embraced it, put it into action and stayed with it? The imperative, scary overwhelming feeling went away. Period.

It is a Broken record Playing in your brain...by doing the pg. 77 work, you are stepping up to the record player and grabbing a nail and scratching the shit out of that record so it won't just skip...it won't even Play ANYMORE.
The Harder and more often you grab that Nail and scratch that POS Record? The more thorough your NEW conditioning and true self empowerment will be.

Sarno said he had a lot of respect for the people who did this..it takes courage and hard work. Courage does not mean not being afraid...it means being afraid and doing it anyways. I have felt scared many many times in my life, but once I stepped up to the REAL Bully (My Obsessions) , Dude just left me alone. The more dramatic and screaming and breaking I did (something totally out of norms and sanity) the faster it left.

and as Sarno said "If that sounds like Science fiction, it has worked for thousands of people"

No (I don't need prism). It just bothers my eyes.

I'm not sure which p. 77 you mean (which book) but yeah...the rage. I should. It's been a terribly emotional week.

Okay... I was just checking as I have a rare eye condition that took the medical profession bloomin' ages to diagnose properly and when I looked at your earlier postings and saw that you wore a prism successfully for a little while but then it didn't help, I thought "mmmm... I'd better check that dlane isn't experiencing the same problems as I had".

Have a great time in Spain. I've only been there once, but loved it; the people were so friendly.

I think I tried for a month and I just never could get the hang of progressives. They’re actually kind of tricky to use. I know a lot of people who haven’t liked them. Don’t get discouraged if you can’t use them very well. You wouldn’t be the only one.

Thank you! I don't have that one -- I have "The Divided Mind" and "The Mindbody Prescription." So do you mean the whole attacking the personification of your rage thing?
