    Hi there,

I was wondering if those who have completed the program could recommend a good time of day to the SEP. I’ve been doing it right before bed, and I think reliving very traumatic things that happened to me at that late hour is disrupting my sleep. Have people found success doing it in the morning? Maybe around lunch time? Would like to do it around the same time every day.

Good question, @Needel94. I tend to do it at night. I do it with the intention of clearing out my mind of the negative shit. Nicole Sachs recommends meditating for at least ten minutes after journaling for at least 20 minutes. I suspect that's a great way to prepare for sleep - except that I'm super-resistant to meditation. Instead, I always end my writing with at least one thing about the day for which I am grateful, no matter how small or ordinary it might be - OR something that I appreciate about myself from the day. Being able to do both is awesome, and this little writing exercise all on its own is recommended by the experts in anxiety reduction, over and over and over again.

So I do that, plus just a couple of minutes of deep therapeutic breathing, which is something that I CAN accomplish, and which I try to remember to do throughout the day, but it is particularly helpful after turning out the light. It's also very helpful if you wake up in the middle of the night and are having trouble getting back to sleep. There are tons of therapeutic breathing resources out there, very easy to find.
