Control and Uncertainty - could this be your TMS struggle?

I listened to this podcast today, and I think it may help many of the folks who struggle with a variety of TMS related issues.

Do you find yourself falling back into symptoms frequently and search for "answers" to why you seem to be dealing with a bunch of symptoms?
Do you find yourself coming back to the forum in search of "answers" and that you worry a lot in general about a variety of things in life.
Do you find it hard to actually do the work, find it "confusing" or feel you aren't "getting it" - that's really overwhelm, and it might be due to uncertainty and your need to control both elements of healing, your healing journey and an assortment of other things in your life.
If you are dealing with any of the above, I think this podcast can shed a light on why it is happening, and what to do about it. There is a short somatically based exercise at the end and explicit directions on what to expect which I think is also valuable...what "over time" means how desperation and immediacy are part of the coping mechanisms we use to control uncertainty.

This podcast really explains how we develop uncertainty, how it's simply part of anxiety, and the thoughts and behaviors that are part of fearing the uncertain and trying to cope with it through control.

Thank you for this! (I haven’t watched the video yet, but I will.) I see myself in these traits, which I’m learning to change with mindfulness and faith on this journey. TMS forces you to let go. You can fight it all you want, but your body forces you to change all your survival strategies. Letting go has to become the new go-to.

You'll notice where they mention that this is a very common trait in people who have experienced trauma, especially childhood trauma. That makes perfect sense at the time, but of course, we eventually have to learn to let go and handle being able to feel OK with uncertainty because the uncertainty is often only a perception and not a reality.
