Day 25 Mixed Feelings

So, at day 25 I have to admit that I'd hoped to be farther along in my healing. A year ago I read one of Dr. Sarno's books and it did help me a bit and it opened my mind to TMS, which I'm grateful for. But I took like 9 months off from thinking about it at all and my pain gradually got worse and to a breaking point this spring. My husband reminded me to consider using my TMS thinking and it quickly reduced my pain to a manageable level. I decided to start this online structured program to finally delve deeper into TMS. I knew I needed to address my buried emotions. I had some initial improvement, but I'm now seeing pain come and go and I'm frustrated that it comes back at all. Plus I have some new things like eczema on my eyelid and scalp, that appeared this spring that I didn't consider TMS and have been treating with homeopathy and cream, with zero luck. These things helped when the eczema appeared two years ago at the same time. I thought it was related to pollen, which I'm highly allergic to. Now I'm not so sure. But I'm scared that it's' not going away with homeopathy this time and frustrated that TMS isn't helping - but this probably because I'm not fully convinced the eczema is related 100%. So trying to work through all that.

I'm seeing a therapist whom I love, though she's not a TMS therapist, but we're making progress and she asks me about my journaling with this program and how it's going and all that.

    I'm still moving forward.

My TMS therapist/coach gave me a super-simple exercise to instantly change your unconscious inner conversation from negative and fearful, to positive and constructive. You have to recognize that when you're fearful, you're basically saying "yikes, I don't want this, get me out of here!" See if you can stop, take a breath, and ask yourself, "what do I want?" If you can do this, you'll be changing that inner dialogue in a way that puts a stop to the fear/flight mode. What you want doesn't have to be complicated - clear skin is a perfectly good ask. Saying what you want gives your brain an opportunity to visualize a positive goal, instead of remaining stuck in fear.
