Day 10 Fear

Today, make a brief forum post about how you are doing with the treatment.

Whilst I am well underway, feeling progress, and staying committed at my own pace, I have some lingering fears in my mind. Deep down I have full faith that TMS is exactly what I need right now and is the process that will enable me to heal and get back into life. However, during the day and especially when I'm working on the SEP, a few fear-thoughts come to the forefront of my mind: "But will TMS heal me fully?", "Will it actually work for me?", "What if it takes more than a few months?", "What if I just cannot do it alone?".

These thoughts in turn raise my anxiety because I assume that having these thoughts means that I haven't fully accepted the TMS diagnosis yet, which without will lead to certain failure. This reinforces the aforementioned thoughts and thus create a vicious cycle. Is this simply a trick of the mind that will last a few days/weeks and then subside? Do others have similar experiences or any tips to break out?

    Thank you

I have the same doubts, especially since one doctor thinks this while the other that I went to does not and asked (patiently) if this may be psychosomatic. I was actually surprised to hear him even mention it. Regardless, I have the same doubts and I just think this is our brain on TMS.

Some days I'm like, yeah this is definitely TMS. Other days the pain is so bad I'm like, this feels too real and I question everything.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
This is just your brain on TMS! I abso-f'ing-lutely guarantee it! :D

There is no such thing as "certain failure" here if you are willing to reject that belief. I was reminded today of an article I read and posted about earlier this year - if you don't click through to read the whole article, at least read the excerpt that I posted about black and white thinking:

Abso-f'ing-lutely YES to both questions. Serious pushback from your fearful brain is really common in the second or third weeks of the SEP. To quote someone else today:
