I will keep this simple. Been working my way through day 5 and finished my first journaling exercise. It has help me add more items to the 3 list. But the more I think about all these events I become depressed. What am I to do with all these feelings. Can I counter act it with some positives. So new I am trying to figure out how all the pieces fit together. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Puddin,
I would say that if you're feeling depressed by the journaling topics then you've probably picked some good ones. Remember the goal is to uncover the buried emotions, if you're feeling depressed then you're obviously responding to them. In other words you're feeling, which is what you want if you want to recover.
But I know what you're saying, depression isn't pleasant, and for someone who isn't used to it, it may even be frightening as well.
If you're worried about going through a one-way door into depression that you can't escape, know that all emotions are transient and impermanent. There's always an escape.
Why not allow yourself to create space for your depression while you're journaling but immediately afterwards do something uplifting to counter the negative feelings you uncover.
    Meditation and mindfulness also help.
I hope that answers your question. If it doesn't or you have more, please post.

    Hi Puddin,

I am in the same boat as you! I completed Day 6 yesterday (although it has taken me more than 6 days to get through all the material). I felt agitated about the event I journalled about. I am worried about journalling about more events. What if i'm plunged into despair and sadness? I do trust the process though as I believe completely in TMS/MBS. Mostly because I have no more pain and I'm back running again. What did help me yesterday was the meditation - the body scan exercise. So I plan to do more of that to calm myself after journalling. Good luck and keep going, from another newbie.

I guess this is the beginning of the healing journey. Guess I need to feel my feelings with whatever is going on especially after journaling. Once I can feel the sad feelings I think it may help me recognize the happy feelings as well and know that will help me heal the negativity/stress that goes along with not feeling your feelings and repressing them. It is good to know that negative feelings will pass and that you can do mindfulness and mediation and concentrate on something positive to lift you up. Thanks for sharing.
