Feeling sorry for oneself

I’m having a bad day today and what usually causes a bad day is not even the physical barriers— It’s the self pity. And when you’re in it, it’s almost like you’re drunk with it. You just don’t want to stop feeling sorry for yourself.

I think the opposite of self pity is thankfulness. There are always things to be thankful for —probably even tons of things —but when you’re in pain, you want to block that all out.

It’s also discouraging when you’re trying really hard and it causes more pain; like you start exercising but it causes more pain and you think, “sheesh why am I even bothering?” or a worse thought: “why me?” This thought gets you absolutely nowhere.

Everything about TMS combines to make you become a much stronger person inside. You have to be able to control your feelings about the frustration of it or you will just give up and what good would that do?

I think a good remedy for discouragement is having a plan. Signing up for a program, an app, or a class and just focusing on that one thing. It could be the Structured Educational Program here on the wiki or it could be something else. I’m doing Dr. Hanscom’s app right now. The DOC app. https://thedocjourney.com/ (Join Us on a Journey to Reduce Stress - The DOC Journey)It has daily homework and you can just focus on your daily tasks.

Don’t give up anybody! I won’t either. And I think I’ll make a list of what I’m grateful for and snap out of it right now!
