For the past 3 months I have been experiencing pain in my arms which has kept me away from my greatest passion, music! It has been really discouraging but I have tried to be optimistic despite my lack of improvement. I have never had issues with RSI related injuries prior to this so I have been struggling with understanding the source of my pain and why it lingers. I have been playing guitar for the past 8 years and working physically demanding jobs all the while and I have never dealt with any pain in my arms. So, I was baffled when suddenly I began experiencing very intense nerve like pain in my fretting arm while playing my guitar in early November. Initially I assumed tendonosis to be the source of my pain but was unable to get anything resembling a diagnosis from the two orthopedists I met with (simply telling me to rest). So, I decided I would simply visit a PT and they actually thought my symptoms resembled Cubital Tunnel. In the midst of all of this I continued working and now found myself having pain in the wrist of my right hand.. Agh! Now it became altogether impossible to rest both of my arms and my job was ramping up in intensity due to the holidays. Anyways, the last few months have been really frustrating as my pain at some points has prevented me from doing the most minimal of tasks--cooking, cleaning, dressing etc.. I just would like to resume my life as was--I'm hoping keeping an open mind to Dr. Sarno's thinking and engaging with this forum will do me some good. I am optimistic as I have already read recovery stories that have inspired hope in me. Thanks!

Sorry to hear of your situation, but there’s some good in that multiple medical professionals cannot find anything significantly wrong, and that your symptoms appeared without apparent injury.

You’re already on the right path of reading other success stories. When I went round this the first time, I found the support of this forum to be valuable, and I’d envoys to lean into that a little bit.

One bit of advice I would give, you’ll find lots of success stories here, but you may also find stories of people who haven’t yet found their way. Don’t let those stories cast doubt. Acknowledge, but do not dwell. Your story is your own, and has not been written yet.
