How do I stop obsessing over getting better?

I found and read Sarno's book 2 days ago after seeing it recommended on an RSI subreddit. It's explanation made so much sense to me and like a lot of people here say I saw myself in every page. I've read Alan Gordon's program and started daily journaling with the structured program but I find myself thinking way too much about my progress, about TMS, and about the program. I constantly worry about whether I'm doing everything "right". I'm worried all this anxiety and worrying will detract from my progress and am wondering if the kind people here have advice on how to complete the program without obsessing so much. Thanks so much and I hope you have success in treating your pain.

it’s so easy to obsess over healing. this is where meditation and mindfulness come into play. they help you take it easy. do the inner emotional work, such as very honest emotional journaling, and then get on with your day as well as you can. it’s a process, a life’s work, but it should not rule your life.

Thanks so much for the response! I've being trying mindfullness and somatic tracking which has helped a lot, my main problem is I keep doubting myself when I'm doing badly and easily forget the times i'm doing well.

Have you checkout extinction bursts? I wonder if that’s what I get.. roller coaster of TMS .. then I realize a lot is untended current emotional stuff. Slips under the radar until you are reminded there’s an issue.

I feel like the better my pain is the worse my anxiety is, its like all my pain moves into this super intense anxiety that I've never experienced before.

Have you watched Dan Buglio/Pain Free You on YouTube? He’s very chill and may be helpful to you. He posts a video every day!

Instead of trying to things to get rid of pain, shift your focus to a genuine curiosity of getting to know yourself and your emotions and feelings. If you were having a conversation with someone only to get something from them or to get them to stop doing something you don't like how do you think they would feel? Now if you were having a conversation with someone to genuinely connect with them out of curiosity and love how does that change the interaction? The obsession with the 'result' dissolves when you are genuinely interested in getting to know yourself and your feelings more through journaling. You see the pain as more of a beautiful phenomena that directed you to again connect with the miracle of you.

The anxiety is a good sign, when you can learn to be with that with less resistance and more presence and curiosity it can change also, and by default your need for the symptoms will dissolve quite naturally.
