Day 20 I get only one change?

The question is: If I could make one change to my life what would it be and what steps could I take?

Funny, I’ve known what it is and what to do for some time. As is often said, “When the pain gets bad enough…” Or in my case, disgusted enough, I’ll do it and I already did! Yay me!

I’ve been carrying around an extra 20 pounds on my 5’6” frame for almost 5 years. It came on gradually until nothing fit and my daily costume was sweats. I did not care. I was feeding my hungry heart. A temporary high, I distractedly ate my way through every flavor of Haagen-Dazs ice cream the company made. I was out of control, but it kept me from missing my Beloved as much. Sure, I knew what I looked like so I didn’t look. Great solution! Then I became very uncomfortable with a hiatal hernia, GERD, LPR and new aches and pains. The ice cream was no longer working as a pacifier, it was killing me in more ways than one. I hated myself. I wanted to look the way I did before my Beloved died. So…there eventually occurred a mind-shift.

Six weeks ago I gave up ice cream and other pacifying foods in favor of healthier nourishment and moderate walks. I’m down 8 pounds with 12 to go.

During this time, I also started the SEP. A package deal that works for this old lady!!!

The best way in the world to gain weight is ice cream. It has happened to me many times. And it’s also such a great comfort! That’s really impressive that you’re doing it —giving it up and taking walks —-good for you!!!
