My bed yoga is working!

OK people! my bed yoga is WORKING! I’m one week in and I’ve been faithful to it. I did it five days last week, so two days off. I forgot how fast your body really gets stronger; it wants to! The sad thing is, I can see now that my attitude, my discouragement, my feeling so defeated, all blocked me from exercising earlier. And I’m telling you— even with a walker— it was hard for me to walk across the room. I honestly just dreaded moving. I didn’t think I could push through. But I have! And, I am!

How did I get to this place? I just plain got sick of feeling stuck.

And here’s another little victory story to go with it. I tried the same yoga/workout program a year ago. It includes some hand strengthening and stretching exercises. Shortly after I started the program, my hands curled and cramped (talk about a freaky symptom!), and I couldn’t type anymore or pick up things very well. I started getting something like carpal tunnel. And my arms were killing me. I kept wanting to come back to this yoga program but I was afraid it would make my arms and hands worse (because I still have these symptoms). Finally I decided that maybe that would be the only way to show my TMS I’m not afraid. Do the same thing again, even if it risks making it worse.

And guess what?! My hands are getting better! It’s actually making them better! :D I mean, it’s just by a little. But they’re looser— definitely looser. And the pain is subsiding.

Just saying! Dare to exercise! You might be surprised what will happen. Walk through the pain straight to the other side where life is waiting for you.

I have miles to go still. But suddenly everything is exciting! The power is in my hands. (Pun intended! lol)

Here’s a thread about my new devotion to exercising and more info on the yoga I’m using if you’re curious: https://www.tmswiki.org/forum/threads/got-brave-enough-to-start-exercising.29402/ (Day 3 - Got brave enough to start exercising!)

That’s amazing to hear @Diana-M - expanding the nervous systems comfort zone. I’ve recently been getting back into to yoga nidra or feldenkrais in bed first thing in the morning to help promote more calm during tricky morning flare ups. Slowly the body is starting to get the message i think!
