hey all, i try to keep it short + concise.
I did suffer chronic (8 months) sciatic pain this year. this pain is 95-100% gone.
I do still have rare very minor flareups which I am able to control and get back to zero very quickly.
in the prior years I did had frequent low back pain, which then eventually progressed into sciatic pain. initially those sciatic episodes resolved within 3 months, but the last one did not.
my main symptoms were mostly sciatic pain, without low back pain. the low back pain resolved, but the sciatic did persist.
initially, I went through all the standard treatment - x-ray/chiro/MRI/specialist/PT, as you know they are ALL bullshit.
then i went into the typical fear/pain cycle. "i will never get better....I will never be able to work out at the gym"
by some miracle i stumbled on Sarno. the process from Sarno to now took 6 months. whenever I have some flareups now - I do the EXACT opposite what i did before. I go to the gym or go biking. I do the exact workouts which I thought are causing me more pain , squats, hamstrings, legs etc. usually such a routine kills the flareup instantly.
    some advice for those struggling:
    a) keep going! it took me many months to realize how TMS works and how to counter it.
    b) despite TMS being mental, look at your diet + exercise + supplementation / weight loss. wont' go into detail here; you need to cut ALL SEED OILS + processed sugars. animal fats/proteins are the way to go. this won't fix TMS but will clear your mind so you can focus
    c) don't focus too much 'on yet another TMS technique'. find a TMS practitioner online, do a bi-weekly session but do not spend tons of time on forums/online re-reading the same.
    d) you will be successful, again, give yourself time + grace. 'setbacks' (which are not setbacks really) are part of it.

I will say that as far as diet goes, I don't believe that you can feel good about yourself if your diet is crap. My radical advice is to eat real food, not processed, and to cut waaaay back on the added sugar, which I do believe is killing us.

definitely. food is key. cut all processed stuff is a good start. exercise frequently is also key.
a side note, what i noticed that since my pain (mostly) resolved, my anxiety/mental symptoms ramped up a bit. I know Sarno mentions this.
I am in the process of identifying and reducing behaviors which ramp up those symptoms. I think the journey continues.
