    Hi folks,

I use CPAP. 1 year ago I was having some waking issues. My doc did a home sleep study. It turns out when I am in REM, I snore just a bit, have a minor apnea and wake up. My Oxygen was 90% or higher, My AHI was 5. these numbers are considered acceptable and no further treatment is required. My doc suggested a re adjustment in the sleep lab and they corrected the problem with an increase from 7 cm H20 to 9 . Fast forward to last November (2015). Same scenario. 1 Exception is I am 15 pounds lighter. the home sleep study is virtually identical to the one from 1 year ago. My doc said I could come have another adjustment or leave it alone as my AHI is 5 and my O2 is 90. I chose to tweak the machine myself . I put it up to 10. No help. I put it up to 11, no help. I have since put it back to 9.

I know I have had many stress related issues such as stomach ulcers, back pain and hypertension. I have solved most of those with "standard" TMS processes, counseling, lifestyle changes, meditation, yoga, diet, etc. I no longer have hypertension and my doc took me off the medication. Is there anyone that has experience with sleep apnea that is stress related?

BTW, I continue to use my CPAP even though I am pretty sure this is stress related.

    Thanks,

    Matthew

Forest, TY. Both searches turned up many posts, but none relating sleep apnea to stress. I used the ask a TMS therapist link and we will see what happens.
    Thanks

Hi Matthew, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. My father and two of my brother also had sleep apnea. I used to wear mouth guard my dentist brother made for me. I wore cpap and some other contraptions years ago. Nothing cure it, not until I was cured from tms/anxiety.
I don't know if stress or the mind caused it, but for me I really think my mind is the cause.

Balto, Thanks. I wear a mouth guard as well, but for grinding teeth, not related to sleep apnea. do you remember how severe your sleep apnea was? and did you have a subsequent sleep study to confirm the apnea was gone, or do you base it on your symptoms of sleep apnea are gone?

I don't remember how bad I had it, I just remember they said I had it from mild to moderate, something like 10 to 15 per hour. I did have another study Matthew. They confirm that I was OK now.

Funny, I did have grinding teeth too. I still do sometime according to my wife but she said it is no way near as bad as it used to be.
