Being grandiose-oriented and very hard on myself, I’m always looking for the big ways to get better. But a couple friends of mine on this forum have encouraged me to see the value in incremental steps, or baby steps. Standing up to cook. Can you do it for 5 minutes? That counts as exercise! Can you go out onto your porch? That counts as leaving the house. Can you wipe down your table? That counts as work. @BloodMoon swears by this method, which she calls “building up steps.”

Slow but steady tricks your TMS brain. It doesn’t realize what’s happening. Nothing to be alarmed about. Anybody have some good baby step stories? I could use ‘em. :)

And while you're doing those things, if you're so inclined, you can get some peace from one's 'monkey mind' thoughts by concentrating on what you are doing in the present moment... that counts as mindfulness or meditation. Or you can hum or sing to yourself an uplifting song as you cook and stir your pasta sauce... that counts as 'elevation' to show your brain that it can relax, everything's okay; there is no danger here. :)
