Day 4 The most disheartening thing a doctor has told me

The Dr. told me my MRI showed my neck had no structure and I would need to have 2 disks fused. Surgery is a powerful placebo. For the next 2 years I had no back, neck, knee, hip or any other pain. Then they all came back.

Or the Doctor who told me she could not heal her own back pain and suggested I go to a chiropractor.

They say all sorts of silly and DUMB things. I was told I risked paralysis if I ever Jogged again. I have run many many miles since that statement...they are just Humans with their own Bias' and limitations and they only know what they learned

Oh my, this brings to mind something from my family history, which is that when I was about 5, which would be 1956, my grandmother became very ill, and in fact we couldn't see her for many months because she had TB, and actually lost a lung. Apparently, she was told she would never walk again, but as my mother was proud to relate, my grandmother called total BS on that, and while I'm sure she used a wheelchair during the time we weren't allowed to see her, I don't recall a single time when she wasn't on her feet, gardening, cooking, walking her dogs in her hilly neighborhood, and navigating an incredibly steep driveway. We took many long walks on the beaches and all over beautiful Marin County. She lived another 18 years to age 86 or so - with just the one lung. AND I now see that I was indoctrinated at a very early age to question medical pronouncements and to trust in my own instincts and knowledge of my own body. And, of course, to exercise regularly, preferably outdoors. All of which has served me well in my own TMS journey.
