Thoughts on fear from Dr. Claire Weekes

These are quotes from Dr. Claire Weekes, MD, in her book Hope and Help for Your Nerves.

    Fear alone makes you vulnerable.

Without fear, your adrenaline-releasing nerves lack the stimuli to excite your organs to produce the sensations of breakdown.

No one has ever had a breakdown while calm.

Analyze your nervous illness; no doubt you will find fear as the real cause. Consider how you could have solved your problems had you not succumbed to fear. There was a solution, wasn’t there?

Unafraid, you could be invulnerable to break down.

The next time you feel a spasm of fear, don’t shy away, try to forget it, control it, or prevent it. Examine it. It will quiet and disappear. You can lose your fear of fear.

Your ability to think and solve problems is so much more efficient without the influence of fear.
