    Hi there,

I am looking for some success stories from people with Trigeminal Neuralgia? I have not an MRI to see if I have a compression or not- but I am wondering if it really matters anyways? Has anyone gotten cured of this by doing TMS work? Please message me if you have. I am trying to continue my job and I am having a hard time with the pain. Thank you!

    Hi Hannah
Have you checked out @plum ‘s story? - she has a lot of wise advice about trigeminal pain. It’s something I’m dealing with too but I’m still a work in progress...

    Hi Hannah!

I had the atypical trigeminal neuralgia - pain 24/7. I followed plum's advice and now I am 95% better. I am dealing with symptom imperatives at the moment so even though TN went away, I have other types of pain going on. But yes, TN is definitely TMS. Plum can confirm. I suffered for 6 months before I started treating it as a TMS.

    Hi @Matt94
You are responding to messages from many years ago.
Creating your own post, introducing yourself and asking for guidance is a great way to get current forum users to help you out.
Recovering from chronic pain is not symptom specific. My back pain is the same as your symptoms - the cause of the chronic pain is, it just shows up in each person differently.
If you have not yet read a book by Dr. Sarno, it is highly recommended because this is knowledge based symptom recovery. The Divided Mind is a book that presents people with a variety of symptoms, and each person recovered in a similar way. Very helpful. Dr. Sarno explains how and why chronic pain happens, and how to recover.
This website has tons 0f information and two free programs, you can explore more at tmswiki.org - the forums are only part of the information provided here.
Please come back and visit us when you have read Dr. Sarno's book. Ask and questions you have and we'll guide you to the next steps you can take to recover.

You might also enjoy listening to this podcast, where the work involved in healing (Nichole Sach's was a patient of Dr. Sarno's and was also trained by him) the work involved in healing trigeminal neuralgia is described: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/episode-84-real-time-heal-trigeminal-neuralgia-and/id1439580309?i=1000476873263 (‎The Cure for Chronic Pain with Nicole Sachs, LCSW: Episode 84 - REAL TIME HEAL: Trigeminal Neuralgia and the Unmet Needs of the Sensitive Child with Clara on Apple Podcasts)

Thanks, I want to post a thread but I actually haven't understood how to do it. I have actually read healing back pain- john sarno and alan gordon the way out. but you are saying sarnos book the divided mind is important as well?

Nope, healing back pain is a great book!
Alan Gordon's book is also good and it tells you EXACTLY what to do. Those two books tell you precisely what and how to heal.
I will say that you might need to read Sarno's book a few times. His advice can be really easily missed in that book (sometimes only a sentance or two) and I think that's because our brain really has to adjust to this new way of thinking about the cause of our pain. So check it out again and look for things like his #1 piece of wisdom "Think Psychologically" - that is where you begin. That's also where Alan Gordon began. Remember the story in his book about being given Dr. Sarno's book and him tossing it...until he exhausted all other avenues of hope..and then he read it and realized that it was his fear and anxiety driving his symptoms - the way he dealt with things in the past, and that he needed a new approach to deal with the fear and anxiety in his life to move forward. He also talks about his driving again, in the book - and that perfectly illustrates this approach.

There is no one single perfect prescribed method to healing. There is a single APPROACH but exactly how that works for you as an individual can vary (and that's OK). Being open to the possibilities is the first step.

thank you so much for your answers <3 I guess dealing with my fear and anxiety should be top priority and somatic tracking only a small daily thing. I also got fear of driving as that makes my symptoms worse. I gotta say reading about TN online makes my fear of making it worse kind of bad... cause I'm not at the level of those I read horror stories about..

That's the attitude! Dealing with fear, anxiety and mindset are the things that will begin your healing journey.
Keep telling yourself that you will defy the odds! You have knowledge that all those folks who are telling the horror stories don't have. They don't understand that they have power over their symptoms and have fallen into the trap of feeling helpless and victimized by them.
Now, no more Dr. Google, no more reading on any forums unless what you read are success stories that are encouraging. We're not talking all smiley faces and roses, we're talking about reality. Healing is hard, it's a lot, but it is absolutely 100% doable!
