    Hey yàll,

I´m currently on day 10 and have the impression that I am making good progress as i have taken up nearly all activities and painfree periods are increasing. Nevertheless I have a question. I seem to experience pain under two dirfferent conditions: 1. It occurs whenever I have a psychlogical trigger like being overwhelmed or getting stressesd out. 2. It seems to be tied to certain situations such as getting up in the morning. 3. It now seems to come like a punishment after physical activities I enjoy (i.g. running, doing yoga) and have onlyy taken up again in the last few weeks since learning about TMS.
Does anyone share this experience and do you have any means to cope with it?

    Best Barbara

    Hi Barbara,

I’m on Day 11 today, and like you, I feel like I’m making progress. I’ve started doing physical activity regularly (swimming), and it makes me feel good. But I’ve also noticed that sometimes, right after I get out of the pool or when I’m back home, I feel strange pain — almost like a consequence of the exercise.

But I really believe it’s just our brain trying to trick us and scare us, to keep us from going back and doing it again consistently.

About a week ago at work, I also noticed that the pain came back more strongly whenever I felt angry inside — even if I wasn’t expressing it outwardly.
This week, though, it’s been happening less.

I had a fever from Tuesday until yesterday, and even today I’m not 100% — but I don’t care. I’ll probably go back to the pool tomorrow because I don’t want to stop for even more days since last Monday.
I don’t know if this is helpful, but I just wanted to let you know that I’ve been having a similar experience. One thing I’ve noticed is that I’m thinking a lot less about the pain — though I’m not sure if that’s because I’ve been distracted by the flu these past few days.

    What do you think?
    Ciao

    This is it!

Nicole Sachs says there are three basic requirements for recovery: Believe, do the work, and practice patience and kindness for yourself.

You're doing the first two for sure. Make sure you're doing the third as well. (@Francesca also needs a reminder about #3, as she is very attached to perfectionism!)

Nicole has another saying which I love even more: "Wear it loosely".

She said it again in today's latest podcast episode. This is a tough one for many people, but it's actually really powerful in practice.

In other words, see if you can consciously let go of this detailed and, let's be honest, slightly obsessive monitoring and reporting of your symptoms.

You know rationally that you aren't doing anything that is physically harmful, right? What IS harmful to your progress is being distracted by pointless activities designed to throw you off track. This is your brain on TMS, that is all!
