What is your association to the TMS community?
I have a deep and profound belief in mind body symptoms, both as a sufferer since childhood and in my practice both in the UK and USA. I help my patients understand their symptoms of stress, anxiety and unresolved anger in terms of mind body psychology.

Have you ever suffered from TMS? Yes

Are you able to conduct therapy sessions over the phone? Yes, in the state of California

What insurance plans do you currently accept? None.

Do you have a sliding scale of payment for people who are not covered by insurance? Yes

What have you done to educate yourself about TMS, and what plans do you have for further education about TMS?
I keep up to date with the latest research, publish articles for the general public using the research and experience with my patient population. I read books on mind body conditions, go to conferences and contribute by teaching seminars on stress and it's impact on mind body symptoms. I have a page devoted to it on my website.

As we are going to post your answers on the TMS Wiki, feel free to write some text to introduce yourself:
As a psychologist and psychotherapist in West Los Angeles, patients come through many doors to see me. Almost all have symptoms of pain from time to time, in bursts that correspond to stresses being reactivated from childhood insecure attachments. I believe that insecure attachments are one of the primary causes of stress that fails to get addressed which then leads to a variety of pain including migraine, lower back and sciatica.

Depending on the individual predisposition childhood stress due to insecure attachments perpetuate insecure adult relationships, often expressed as gastric complaints, insomnia, sexual dysfunction, skin breakouts, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia among other things.

Fostering earned secure attachments in therapy creates the foundation for new neural pathways that allow stress to be perceived and handled in healthier ways. As that process develops, TMS conditions abate and become more manageable.

I have worked with children who expressed stress due to family dysfunction through enuresis, encopresis, chronic constipation, anorexia, bulimia, chronic head aches and stomach cramps.

I have worked with adults who expressed relational stress through tinnitus, migraine, chronic fatigue, chronic lower back pain, skin rashes and insomnia.

As the therapeutic relationship becomes secure and stable, my patients learn to express their stress and emotional conflicts, disappointment, anger and fear in words, releasing their bodies from screaming on their behalf.

I find that a patient's dreams will often reflect their progress and illuminate mind body issues that are not available in their conscious lives, which gives our work a much more meaningful dimension.
