Number of years in practice: 25 years

Number of years in practice with patients who have TMS:
I am a psychologist and psychoanalyst with over 25 years experience. Dr. Frances Sommer Anderson introduced me to TMS in 1999. I have been actively involved in working with TMS patients since 2010.

What is your association to the TMS community?
Dr. Fran Anderson was instrumental in my initial interest in TMS and the TMS community. I have used the wide breadth of expertise in the professional TMS community to integrate my background in psychoanalysis with other therapeutic modalities that are essential to successful treatment of chronic pain. I am engaged in facilitating the group’s interest in getting knowledge about TMS out to a broader network of patients and professionals. Beginning in the latter half of 2015, I will be conducting educational workshops about chronic pain in Sydney.

Have you ever suffered from TMS?
Yes, in 2009 I had foot pain for four and a half months. After seeking medical treatments without success, I used the strategies in Dr Sarno’s and Dr Schubiner’s books. I was pain free in two weeks. It was the dramatic resolution of this very painful incident that prompted me to work in a much more active way with TMS pain professionally.

Are you able to conduct therapy sessions over the phone? No.

What insurance plans do you currently accept?
Australian residents can receive partial reimbursement for their first ten sessions from Medicare if they are referred to me by allied health professional.

Do you have a sliding scale of payment for people who are not covered by insurance? Yes

What have you done to educate yourself about TMS, and what plans do you have for further education about TMS?
I follow new developments in TMS that come via research and through engagement with other TMS professionals. I have also learned a great deal from my patients and how they relate to their symptoms and their individual processes of recovery. When required I engage in focused consultations with other experts in the field of TMS. I also offer feedback to colleagues who are interested in continuing to help others overcome TMS.

As we are going to post your answers on the TMS Wiki, feel free to write some text to introduce yourself: Working with TMS is extremely rewarding – watching people become pain free generates, and regenerates, my engagement with this work.
