Number of years in practice helping people with TMS: 20+ Number of clients you have seen who have had TMS: 10 What is your association to TMS community?: Professional, have attended several conferences, read up on TMS, consulted with other therapists who treat TMS. Have you ever suffered from TMS? No What insurance plans do you accept? B/C, out of state B/C, Aetna. Do you have a sliding scale of payment for people who are not covered by insurance? Yes. Are you able to conduct sessions over the phone and/or internet video services? Yes—phone sessions and working on installing something better than Facetime or Skype. What have you done to educate yourself about TMS? Attended multiple conferences, visit the TMS website, read professional articles and books, consult with other TMS therapists. What is your general psychotherapeutic treatment approach? I am a seasoned psychodynamic therapist and relational analyst which means that I am interested in the multiple subjectivities my clients bring into the therapeutic relationship, including their thoughts, feelings, body states, dreams, interpersonal relationships of past and present and developmental and health traumas. How my clients live and experience their bodies and emotions are curiously explored and well integrated within my treatment approach. I incorporate adjunctive treatments such as Guided Imagery and meditation within the treatment as these methods can help reduce anxiety, stress, promote pain management and improve coping. I also stay aware of other modalities, such as neurofeedback, which can help to interrupt pain signaling and help the mind reset conditioned responses to pain, trauma and anxiety. How does your approach to treating TMS differ from your general psychotherapeutic treatment approach? In many ways, it doesn’t because I work with how emotional issues, developmental traumas or our emotional life lives and is expressed in our bodies and this is integrated within all the work I do. Dysregulations of affects, thoughts, body states, sleep, eating, health etc are all subject to exploration and working through to promote better self-regulation.
