My Story
Hey out there!
So, my story....right Foot broke in 4 different places at different times within a year, small fractures. The breaks happened while walking. I felt a snapping on the first one, just thought it was no big deal, but it became painful and did not go away. It was weeks before I went to get an X-ray, it was just getting too painful to walk around. It occurred while I was walking normally, no previous problems. I was in a boot most of that year, I would take it off after 6 to 8 weeks, and then it broke again and again and again, in different toes.
Finally, I had a few month period of no breaking.
Yeah! But then, getting out of the car and walking toward work, my left foot snapped with a VERY serious break. I fell down, crawled back in my car, and called work to say I was out for a while, crying the drive home in pain and fear.
My podiatrist had no idea what was happening with the small fractures, and when the big one happened I went to the best medical group in my town, San Diego.
I was passed from head of department to the next head of department starting with a Head Podiatrist, to an Endocrinologist, to a Rhumotologist, to a Nephrologist, and then an Orthopedic Surgen. No one could come up with a reason for my breaks.
The last break would not heal and months later I was given a bone growth stimulater. The bone healed after a few weeks and I continued to use it long after until the machine was done, putting both feet into it every day for 9 months.
In a year or so after that, I developed a pain running down my right Leg so bad that I took off of work days at a time, it was what I called an "evil pain", searing and burning.
I was given an MRI of the Hip and spine and diagnosed with Spinal Spinous, plus.
My Orthopedic guy said I would have to have a lamandetomy and spinal fusion, but I should try to put it off with physical therapy and/ or chiropractic care for as long as I could.
The shots he gave me did not give any relief.
Chiropractic therapy seems to work, but after 2 years I am worse than I started out.
Can't walk without crutches, sometimes a cane will do.
I am a very fit and healthy 60 year old!
I went back to my Orthopedic guy, he did some X-rays and said it was time for surgery.
I went to another surgeon in a different group who said I could do a different surgery not as drastic as the other guy.
I went on a spinal Stenosis forum to see what people were saying and came upon Dr. John Sarnos and the TMS theory.......and here I am!
Day 7 is tomorrow, I am hobbling around with out crutches but carry a folding cane if I have to wander too far from the car.
I stopped the exercises I have done for years to help my back, and am off the ibuprofen for my back ( I still have one or two at the most for my painful feet.)
Thanks for reading!
