How to manage when for the most part I have to be knocked out with meds to sleep for any relief, pain on ankles up to lower back. Hard to walk although I push myself as I’ve spent too many months getting weaker and now with even more pain.
I still after months of trying various mind body cannot participate in any meaningful social or occupational activities and mostly alone. As it gets colder here in NY, I find myself more limited, feels like I’m disappearing and I spend a lot time afraid but attempting to,do the emotional work and in therapy etc.any words of wisdom from you all? Friend are giving up on me, I’m told I need desperately to see a psychiatrist

    Hi,
Everyone is different. There is no real recipe for healing. You have to tackle it by trial and error. Most people see a lot of improvement by doing the free class here on this website, the Structured Educational Program. It will teach you a lot.

The isolation and depression you feel is a real and true aspect of TMS. It’s a trick of your mind to keep you living in a little hole. That hole closes in. You’ll have to fight to get out. But you CAN get better. There is hope! Read some of the Success Stories.

I hope you feel some relief soon. Hang out here. The people are great and you learn how to get free.

Take their advice. Your friends want the best for you, and they don't know how to help you with your suffering (and that's not their job). Their asking you to get help is so that you will free up your life to spend time with them. They love you.

Do you have guidance to do your work? Have you looked at the free Structured Educational Program here on the wiki? That is so helpful for guidance. It can help you see if just doing the SEP is ok for you, or if a therapist would be helpful. Give yourself some time and patience and keep in contact with any friends you can but do not burdon them with your pain and suffering - Several TMS specialists suggest you don't talk to people about your situation.

You are doing great getting out and trying to walk. It's not easy, but you are doing it. You have started to do the work and explore this new idea, and that is wonderful. Give yourself time and patience. Keep trying to participate an any of your interests you can, even if it's hard to do or to keep your focus on. Remind yourself you are NOT the person stuck inside, that this is just temporary and you are the person who likes to do (whatever your favorite things are to do).
