As pointed out to glute symptoms you asked about a few days ago, it's a VERY VERY common symptom. It's not always a main symptom and so people don't post about it much.
However, every symptom is different in every person. You need to realize that when you mind creates a symptom it's there because it knows this is a particular symptom that will get your attention.
Half of the symptoms I've had are not listed anywhere in success stories yet people mention they've had them - they are just part of the myriad of many symptoms people have...and once you begin to heal from these mind/body symptoms you focus on the mental and emotional healing and less on the physical, it becomes so much less important and when people write success stories you can read that their focus has completely shifted.

Right now your mind is so captured by this symptom it's all you are focusing on. You haven't asked if anyone has had success about the anxiety it creates, the fear thoughts, or the way the mind habitually focuses on what you are thinking of as "the symptom" right now. Actually all three of the other things ARE the symptom. once you recognize that the anxiety, fear and habitual focus (obsession) on the sensation are the main drivers of TMS you begin to heal. These are the things Dr. Sarno writes about in his book. Focus on any one of his books and what he says you'll need to do to overcome the symptoms. Think psychologically, get back to everyday life which includes physical movement (implied in here is "get back to everyday life" means to think about everyday things and to stop focusing on one tiny component of your day: sensations in your glute), understand that your personality traits feed into TMS: perfectionism, goodism, legalistic thinking etc., and above all else consider that the combination of all of the things you are experiencing is the outcome of deeply buried: subconscious emotions that you are unable to bring into your consciousness because they are very difficult to experience: rage, anger, sadness, guilt, and shame - the cocktail of anxiety.

The PPDA has created this invaluable quiz to help you recognize the possibility TMS is at play. Especially great when you have much doubt either in TMS or your ability to succeed in Dr. Sarno's method: https://ppdassociation.org/ppd-self-questionnaire (Self Quiz — Psychophysiologic Disorders Association)

The ACE's quiz is another helpful tool to focus on the psychological aspects of Dr. Sarno's theories. Take this test through the eyes of a child, and notice if you experienced similar or slightly more subtle context of subjects it presents: https://www.npr.org/sections/health...e-quiz-and-learn-what-it-does-and-doesnt-mean

And lastly, if you still find yourself overwhelmed with the concept that your particular symptom is not one that can be overcome, read The Divided Mind which talks about a wide and differing variety of symptoms that people overcame. I found it very helpful.

My strangest symptoms were pseudo seizures. I'm experienced enough with seizures to know that mine where not real at all although it certainly looked like they were! I've never ever heard of anyone else having this type of symptom as TMS, never heard a success story about it and yet, it was the first symptom to vanish.

    Thank you so much.
I've taken myself off of any forum that discusses any other diagnoses or doom and gloom. I had a chat with a TMS person and they said moat likely TMS and I've now accepted the diagnoses.
I think I am confused as to how I go about this as there is conflicting methods.
Dan buglio says no to journalling.
    Nicole sachs says yes.
Alan gordon says pay attention to aynptoms.
I'm not sure which is the correct approach.
    All my symptoms are
. Buttock pain ( nerve and muscle)when sitting
    . Back pain when walking
    . Anxiety
    . Head pressure

And I like Steve's idea of getting rid of sitting pain in one go but I don't have anyone willing to keep hitting me lol

@Sarah89 The bodily symptoms we experience are irrelevant as far as choosing what mind/body approach to do. This is because the TMS-ing brain can cause all manner of different symptoms in various parts of the body. With TMS whether you're suffering buttock pain or migraines or whatever, what's causing the bodily symptom is the same - it's the brain. (It's therefore not a case of, for example, journaling being generally best for tackling buttock pain or 'somatic tracking' being generally best for tackling back pain.)

Please don't shoot the messenger (as I know that it can be annoying to hear this!) but regarding choosing a method, it's a matter of 'sucking and seeing' what works for your particular brain to stop it TMSing. (If you read the success stories on the success stories forum you will see that some people journaled but others didn't and some did 'somatic tracking' à la Alan Gordon and others didn't and so on.)

As you need to start somewhere on your 'journey' to losing your symptoms, a good place for that is to do the Structured Educational Program on this TMS Wiki, which has helped many recover. The program is free and does not require any kind of registration: https://www.tmswiki.org/ppd/Structured_Educational_Program (Structured Educational Program).

Anxiety is common in TMS, and needs to be addressed directly as part of the recovery process. Many have found resources by Dr. Claire Weekes to be very effective in dealing with their anxiety. You can find more here: https://www.tmswiki.org/ppd/Overcome_Anxiety_with_Dr._Claire_Weekes (Overcome Anxiety with Dr. Claire Weekes) or you can read her book "Hope & Help For Your Nerves" which is also readily available in various formats.
