Core/Groin pain

Has anybody had a core injury and/or groin injury that ended up being TMS. I’ve been suffering from a Sports Hernia for over 2 years. I’ve been to countless doctors, most of which say they don’t see any evidence on imaging. However, there are 2 specialist that specialize in core injury that signified they did see evidence of an injury.

The answer to this could help alot of people. I’m in the Sports Hernia FB group and hundreds of members go years with this condition, and even sometimes after surgery, have chronic, daily symptoms.

I’ve exhausted a lot of time and am scared to do surgery in a delicate area like the core/groin. Would love to hear anyone’s experiences that may suggest it could be TMS.

I have taken the assessment and do fit the criteria for it. However, when I engage activities that target my core, my groin flares up. In addition, my surrounding muscles (hips, hamstrings) have all been EXTRA stiff since the onset of this “injury” and doc’s are saying it’s bc they are compensating for the injury, which makes sense, thus defeating my belief in TMS.

    Again, any feedback helps

Sports hernia (I’d never heard of it) is not really a hernia but a strain and is said to heal within 12 weeks.

So it makes sense that after 2 years of less “core” activity that using these muscles has heightened sensations - but you use them not just in excercise, right?
You use these muscles during everyday activities - taking out the trash, vacuuming, lifting.
When our brain is sensitized, sensing danger, our body is also on heightened alert always holding muscle tension to be able to “flee” or perhaps “freeze” when the next threat comes our way. With high anxiety (see personality traits on the quiz you completed) we are constantly feeling threatened.
This is why particular symptoms do not matter with TMS because it is your internal stress, anxiety, fear and hyper focus that are its genesis. Doubt and symptom matching are just part of the whole TMS mechanism - keeping you safe from dealing with the internal causes of TMS.
To confront doubt and build confidence, we begin to do the work. The internal work with the idea that an open mind and an attitude of what harm can the work do… even if there is some doubt.
We do the work and look for typical signs that we might be on to something: symptoms flair, or anxiety increases, or symptoms lessen (permanently or for a period of time) or we notice a peacefulness - any changes at all in our state of being. And then we know this work is making changes, and change is what we are seeking.
We keep working on our TMS skill building and recognize more, deeper internal insights, “see” the mechanism at work and realize we are ok to deal with the internal symptoms. As fear lessens and we engage more in life, accept that the self we imagined (based on society and others which creates rage) and our true inner self are not always the same thing we slowly work our way out of the tangle.
To conquer the doubt we simply begin.
A free program to guide you through the work is at TMSWiki.org scroll down page to the Structured Educational Program which guides you to read a book by Dr. Sarno (like The Divided Mind) before beginning the program days.
