Did you have to quit caffeine?

I currently drink a decent amount of caffeine throughout the day or I get severe to moderate depression without it. Sometimes it actually calms me down…probably because I crash after the initial energy burst. Has anyone else healed while still drinking caffeine or is it a MUST to quit. I do know it obviously can stimulate the nervous system.
    Thanks in advance.

I don’t consume caffeine, and I doubt you need to quit to recover. That being said, if you are really struggling without consuming an unnecessary drug, then it’s certainly worth examining your relationship with it.

I drink a small Central American nations yearly output of coffee daily. It has nothing to do with TMS . I suppose people who are easily made anxious it might ratchet up their obsession's, but blaming this on ANYTHING physical is part of the Strategy of keeping you focused on the body.

that makes sense…my mind was telling me i had to stop it because it was ramping up my nervous system to not allow it to heal but I think I’ll just reduce it and not worry about it like it’s a cure all!!

I came down with mild high blood pressure during my divorce. I went to the doctor, got meds , started walking every day and cut salt out completely.
When I went back to the Doctor, it was HIGHER!?!

Her Nurse (who is always the Goddess who saves me) told me, "Those are all just factors....there is no exact cause-effect....just indicators."

I went back to eating salt like a Deer and started writing about how angry I was and my blood pressure totally normalized and has stayed that way. In retrospect, cutting out my beloved salt probably was enraging to my unconscious "popcorn and Jerky eating" child. That is prolly what made it worse.

Don't piss yourself off...just focus on emotional and psychological stuff and you'll heal.

Caffeine does increase the circulation of cortisol and adrenaline. I drink coffee it in moderation (it's difficult to completely cut it out when you husband is a coffee enthusiast with a fancy espresso machine, ha!). If I do get jittery, I try not to pay much attention to it and limit myself to a couple cups a week.

TMS is bad enough. Don't quit the small pleasures that are helping you feel good.

I quit more than 10 years ago. I was not really a coffee drinker, I mean not obsessed, not having it daily, only a few times/year. But I had to quit, yes. I can't sleep at night if I have it, even if it's decaf. I think there is something like 8% real coffee in it or so. No soda pop either. (I do drink decaf Pepsi maybe 5 times/year but only before lunch, so in the morning and only a little bit as a tiny pleasure when I travel).

No stimulants for me, I aim for none/zero. It's fine. Actually I like not being addicted to anything. I like drinking tea in the morning, I grow it in pots/garden, organic mint tea. But if I don't have it it's OK. I can drink water.

Off-topic response: I can't even count the number of times I've received better advice from the nurse than from the doctor, LOL. Nurses are the best. :joyful:

When I went though my 'Gall Bladder' dilemma 12 years ago , I asked my doctor "Isn't there some supplement I can take, or dietary change that can keep me from needing it taken out?"
She said NO. In fact, she gave me grave warnings; Pieces of whatever is in there, breaking off and going into my spleen and killing me.

I didn't have $10k lying around so I said I'd take my chances.

Meanwhile her NURSE whispered "Take it easy on the Pork Fats and Animal fat stuff...that is what irritates your Gall Bladder"

I did what The Nurse said and the symptoms slowly abated. I did notice it only ached when I ate stuff that was super fatty....like chicharrones or mayonnaise encrusted French fries. Once again, she didn't say 'Never' she just said "Take it easy"...I still love mayonaise and the occasional Pepperoni sandwich.

That type of non-dramatic, calm and common sense sort of advice is way less scary than the stuff my well meaning Dr. says.

To continue with the off-topic...I had/have the same problem with the gall bladder. I confirm, it's true, if I eat fatty stuff I have pain in the stomach high under the rib cage. The gall bladder doesn't like it! So I got used to not eating fatty things most of the time. No surgery needed.

    Please, continue the discussion...

I had my gallbladder out long before I knew anything about any of this and not just taking a doctor at their word. Had one gallstone attack and I was DONE, begging them to take it out. I had a pretty lousy recovery after surgery so I might do it differently if I knew then and whatnot.
