Going on a hike tomorrow!

Love the interaction of this community, thought I would share an update on my journey:

After 2 or 3 weeks now, I am not taking any sort of pill at all. Most of the time I have very little or no pain. I go on 45 minute walks now and feel better at the end of the walk, even if my pain level was at a 6/10 to start the walk.
I haven't been able to go hiking (one of my absolute favorite activities) in over 2 years because of my chronic pain, and so I am so excited to go hiking with some friends tomorrow morning. It's a 3 mile hike that gains 800ft of elevation. So not too crazy, but would have been insane to think about doing 3 weeks ago.
Not going to lie, I actually feel pretty nervous about it, even though my walks have been so successful, and I know I just have TMS. In fact, my pain has been pretty bad this evening, probably because of some unconscious fear of going on the hike tomorrow.
I'll update this post with how it went after I get back tomorrow!

Don't forget to breathe! It's amazing how far a few calming breaths can take you. And enjoy :)

Looking forward to hearing how it goes! Hiking is one of my favorite activities, too. I usually feel great while doing it and then I have horrible body aches the next day(s). When I am hiking regularly I still stay in this cycle of pretty much constant body aches outside of the time of the hike itself. I would love to break that cycle.

We're going on a hike, too! A very short one that we like a lot.

I decided not to cancel my vacation a second time this year, and the minute I did (about two weeks out) symptoms escalated. I think this is really where the rubber meets the road on fighting TMS. It’s trying to bully us to not do things— And we just have to get comfortable with feeling uncomfortable while waiting to do the things we want to do. And then, one of these days, this will stop happening!

So encouraging to me as I face two trips in the coming weeks!

Trust me—my fear of the trip was through the roof! I don’t know what kept me from canceling. Stubbornness maybe? I just want to get better, and I knew it would help me. It turned out to be better than I could have imagined! So worth it.

Update: It went great! Thought it would take an hour, ended up taking two. But, I only had a little bit of pain on the way up, and none after that, even now, a few hours after I got back. Living life again is amazing!

    Oh, what a beautiful day!
We hiked up and down two of the biggest slopes I've been able to do in probably 15 years. Went into a steep canyon that we had to climb some short ladders to go up, and some REALLY tall steps - like 3' tall steps. My husband who's a runner had a harder time that I did because of those typical runners tight hips! Spectacular views of the ocean, walked along the estuary and saw flying fish and herons...three miles. We had a choice to go the "medium difficult" route and chose the "challenging" route and I had 0 fear. Then went to eat at my favorite place and had a huge acai bowl!
Great day, some symptoms but no pain. I will feel it tomorrow but it won't be TMS, it will be the result of such a great workout.

How amazing and wonderful! Look how far you’ve come! I love your victory stories so much! You give me tremendous hope. But I know it wasn’t for free. You worked your butt off!
