Hormonal imbalance

    My greetings to all members.
I have told my story in other posts, but in short, from a period of pain, dizziness, migraines, fatigue, many diagnosis etc, I had come to a level where all my symptoms began to fade or extinguish, by making changes in my life, way of thinking etc.
But... last summer I had my menstrual every 16-18 days. I had all the appropriate exams to the gyn( pap, hormones etc) , who could not give a logical explanation, he only told me there is an hormonal imbalance. I had my theroyd tested and everything seemed to be normal.
I am 39. I wonder... is it perimenopause? ( I feel it is very early for me and dangerous for health. In addition my mother went menopausal at around 45).I am afraid of it, because it is said it is accompanied with health problems and it is symbol of "old women".
Is it symptom imperative, because I confronted every other symptom?
Is it the consumption of food/water contained in plastic bottles etc, which is known to cause hormonal imbalance to women?
Besides, having menstrual so frequently has become exhausting, mood swings, pain, fatigue etc.
Would be grateful for any enlightenment.

Dr. Hanscom discusses the hormones that become altered by stressful states, and anxiety.
I had early perimenopause and early menopause. So far the only effects are the normal abnormalities Dr. Sarno and other Dr’s have found associated with aging after 15 glorious years of menopause.

The constant obsession and hyper-vigilance and worry with health concerns is an ocd-like symptom of TMS. Look up what causes more frequent periods and general answers are hormones and stress. Stress creates the release of hormones.

Yes you need to be cognizant of your overall health. You did your diligence and saw your Dr. who found nothing wrong. Of course you keep a light and curious attention on your body and health to keep healthy, but what does worrying about a currently non-existant “problem” bring you?

This is where you show yourself some compassion for personality traits that you have, accept that your mind goes to stressful places and decide if you always want your mindset to search for the negative and be stuck there. It just takes some practice over time to train yourself to be open to more possibilities than just the negative, scary one.

Maybe you are right... It is the" catastrophising " way of thinking I am prone to...
The mysterious thing is that frequent menstruals happen when I am non stressed. It happened also last year ( I didn't work during July and August and did what I really love, go to the sea, swim, relax etc.)
I will search for Sarno 's and Hanscom's views about the subject.
In reality until this moment I had neither a second thought that this is a non existant problem...
Anyway, thanks for the answer and the food for thought.

    Hey Xara,
Just wanted to put in my two cents since this happend to me too, about 2 years ago.

During 5 months i had my period every 2 weeks with all the accompanying symptoms (my periods were always really bad symptomwise). My gynecologist noticed a hormonal imbalance, but since i didn't want to take the pill i just kind of waited it Out.

Funnily enough one day my period just went back to normal and since starting TMS Treatment i noticed a severe reduction in my symptoms during my period and ovulation.
Thinking back the shorter intervall was probably an expression of stress or rather dissatisfaction with life.

Since then i believe hormonal imbalances (in a normal "healthy" body, meaning nothing missing or interfering with hormone production) will get regulated once the body is back in a more peaceful state.

I hope what i wrote can eleviate some of the thougths you're having about this :)

Remember the “stress” that Dr. Sarno discusses is unconscious.. you do not necessarily know the cause or have thoughts about it. You could very well not realize feeling guilty about loving vacation, or already worrying about going back to work or responsibility.. or whatever. It is why personality traits like negative thinking, repetitive thoughts, being hard on yourself etc are also to be considered

@sleepyjay thanks for your story, really encouraging. In my case, the happy thing is I didn't have the same pain, symptoms were lighter.
Well... I wonder... Maybe I felt guilty I had vacation for two months, inspite of finding something extra to do ( my family's philosophy) , embarrassed too, even if I enjoyed it. Most people in my environment ( my husband too) work hard every day, for many hours, having vacation for a week per year... I feel lazy... Really enlightening observation.

I think this is the key right here, @Xara - it's a lot deeper than vacation guilt, and when @Cactusflower suggests that you are harboring unconscious stress, I would suggest always going back to this. For better or worse, humans in today's world start obsessing about the aging process as we end our thirties - I suspect it's probably universal. And it's a huge TMS trigger - fear of aging and of the inevitability of our mortality. It sure was for me. And it still is, so I have to work on reducing the stress response surrounding it, and to continue acknowledging it so that my TMS brain won't keep trying to distract me with symptoms.

@sleepyjay has given you a good reason to assume that you can turn this around for now, by being mindful of the stress you put on yourself by allowing fear to rule. I know that you have the tools to accomplish this!
