    Hello !

I am Adjaay and I'm here because I suffer from hyperacusis since a noise injury at a loud concert. I have pain, ear spasmes and tinnitus (+reactive tinnitus). I try to overcome these issues. I think they are related to TMS.
I need support during this journey (i don't really have a strong support system IRL sadly). I see professionals on these issues but I feel that I can do a lot of stuff on my own.
I have observed that my symptoms tend to rise when my emotions are strong. Im currently following the recovery program and I ordered the book from doctor Sarno.
I have contracted this condition during a very hard period, I was always sad, depressed and physically exhausted. I am curious to know if people have or had this same condition.

I will try to update you about my progress.

Sorry for the mistakes, english isn't my first language !

    Thank you all guys :)

Hello @Adjaay and welcome. These are very common TMS symptoms which are reported by many people. They are typical of over-sensitized nervous systems.

You have been checked out medically, and now you have found the next step with Dr Sarno and TMS resources, so good job!

There's another book you may want to get, which is Hope and Help for Your Nerves, by Claire Weekes. I believe it's been translated into many different languages. It's an essential guide to overcoming crippling anxiety, and her advice works really well alongside Dr Sarno.

Please do keep us posted on your progress and ask questions as needed. We've got a lot of answers and great resources.

Above all, as you do this work, have patience and practice compassion for yourself. Recovery will come in time.

    Hello @JanAtheCPA
Thank you so much for your kind message.
I will check the book and see if it's available in my country !
For sure I will make updates.
I try to have compassion and patience. It is really hard for me and I tend to be quite depressed even if I won't give up !

    Kind regards

There are some great resources which address tinnitus and hyperacusis specifically. I went through both of these in 2016-2017 respectively. What started out as tinnitus quickly developed into hyperacusis. Now, 7ish years later my ldl has improved from 50’s & 60’s to mid-high 80’s. My tinnitus comes on bothersome once in awhile, but never more than a few minutes. It is a long, but rewarding path to recovery on these issues. Do not believe an ENT or anyone telling you nothing can be done. On a personal note, I will remind you to carry musicians ear plugs while going out to a restaurant or other event where the noise level can exceed appropriate levels, causing harm to your hearing (85 dBa & above) (eargasm are a great brand for that)

Julian Cowan Hill has over 100 Utube videos on this specific topic, he is absolutely the best of the best on starting your road to recovery on these two specific issues. Starting there, then progressing with TMS related protocol and you will be feeling much better soon.

    Cheers to better hearing.
And…..a reminder hearing is a precious commodity to protect——BE HEARING AWARE

It is not easy. I am going through this too. Feel free to pm me. I am just 32.. life has entirely changed but i believe it’s a purely psychological response.

@Dfw Hi ! Thank you ! I didn't even see that I was already following him ! I have a TRT device to habituate, the sound is very low for the moment, I think it helps but i don't know. Yes I will take care of my hearing. For the moment I don't go to concert and so on. I have pain even in silence it's depends but I feel better than last week. I try to handle negative emotions because it doesn't help !
@chintand17 yes it's rough, i feel it is a part of sensitization ! Wrong neural pathways, yes for sure if I need it I will message you! I try to stay positive and to make efforts each day. I have started qi gong class and I try to do it each morning, I feel it can help me !

I think for the moment, my issue is uncertainty, I need to believe I can heal and that I suffer from TMS, sometimes it's just hard to need enter in a negative circle. I wish a full recovery even if for the moment I don't see the end of my issue !

    Hello,

I struggle since 2 weeks with a rise of my symptoms after a "depressive episode" I can't stand my TRT device for the moment so it's frustrating. I have started to read Dr. Sarno book, I think I'm in the middle of the book since im quite fast at reading . I think I check a lot of things Dr.Sarno says in his book. I have felt a lot of anger and frustration before all this mess but i think I have suffered from tms for a long time? I have disc bulg issues, sore throat, pain in my wrist sometimes. I remember when I have started to have TTTS/hyperacusis I had a lot of pain because of sciatica ...
I still struggle with sceptism but I try to repeat to myself that my emotions play a role in this pain. It's really hard but I feel that I have a lot of repressed painful emotions in myself, anger, sadness, frustration and also anxiety ... I still struggle to sleep so I think that I have a lot of tension.

@Adjaay, as you learn more about TMS and learn that it might be the cause of your symptoms, your brain will work extra-hard to try to give you even more symptoms so that you continue to be fearful, because it does not want you to look at your negative repressed emotions. This is proof that the symptoms are from your brain, not from anything that's actually wrong. I know it's hard to deal with worse symptoms, but it's actually good news. Don't get discouraged!

@JanAtheCPA Yes I feel it's my brain. It's not the first time that I have an increase of pain after feeling a strong emotion. I just don't get why it won't go away when I feel calmer and not really angry and so on. I try to things for my repressed emotions but i'm quite lost on this subject !

    @Adjaay
Keep reading Dr. Sarno and following the program you are doing. It is not just repressed emotion as Dr. Sarno points out, but fear, and internal stress and personality traits.
It is not about pain going away when we feel “calmer”.
It is about our reaction to the things that make us emotional and our reaction to the symptoms. It takes time to learn and to re-train the brain.
Just keep reading and doing the program.

Hello, sorry for the late answer. Thank you for your message, I will keep reading the book and the link about the other guy with hyperacusis. It's pretty rough honestly but I keep going! I try to keep in mind that everything takes time but sometimes i am a bit frustrated!!

Hello ! Updates ! I have received Claire Weekes' book! I have finished Sarno's one ! I get the concept and I accept it I think but I feel "stuck" I can say. Sometimes Im happy and i don't feel any particular emotions but the pain remains?? I try to have better reactions to bad emotions such as anger and sadness. I feel, I don't feel completely "good" even in moment of hapiness. I feel "sensitive" in general, I don't really know. I just try to be better in my life and I hope the recovery will come soon !
