    Question
    Hello,

I am seeing a hypnotist tomorrow for relief of my pain. The approach he uses tackles underlying repressed emotions. I believe this is in synchrony with Dr. Sarno's approach and I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on the matter?

    Answer
This is an interesting question. I have had patients who have had success using hypnosis to get rid of symptoms. The hypnotist that some of my former patients have worked with (Rochelle Cook...she's great, and works over Skype too...) utilizes a more behavioral approach while integrating the inner child. During an initial session, she makes you a tape, 20-30 minutes, that you listen to every day.

I'm not sure what impact hypnosis that focuses on repressed emotions will have, simply because I don't have any experience with that. It definitely sounds interesting though, and I'd love to know how it goes.
