I've been doing the mindfulness exercise that Alan G. has on here and practicing mindfulness throughout the day and its had quite a good impact on my sleep.

How is it? How do you practice it? Can you tell me more about your experience?

Alan Gordon's words: "Mindfulness. When people do mindfulness exercises, one of the most difficult barriers is not falling asleep. Mindfulness is so phenomenal that it literally changes the structure of the brain for the better. Try practicing mindfulness when you're attempting to fall asleep. You win either way: either you fall asleep or you're healing your brain."

I listen to the mindfulness exercise just once a day, but I practice recognizing future and past thoughts and try to bring myself into the present as often as I can throughout the day (with self-compassion of course). My sleep isn't perfect, but I had more than 9 hours of sleep one night for the first time in a long time AND I had my first nap the other day since who knows when? 2008? It's true that most of the worries and fears that humanity faces are about the future and the past, so I figure if we live in the present we would have a lot less fear. Just my thought.
