More new symptom

    It’s me again, seems every week it gets worse feeling….I’m hoping to get some support from the group on my confining doubt in my abilities to overcome pain-fear-avoidance cycle, seems like the longer I do this work the worse and more disabling symptoms have become lately. At this point I feel I may need to hire help at home because apart from foot and knee pain, which I have slowly been able to see as less dangerous (until now since feels worse today and I directly think it’s because I cannot rely on my hands to help
    with my ankle weaknesses) I seem to have suddenly developed wrist tendinitis bilaterally (I’m sure I may overuse with phone /computer etc but anyway…) which I assume are MBS.
    The anxiety and hopeless feelings it all brings up are making it hard to feel I can ever return to regular activities because I’m frightened by all the can go wrong and perceive more danger to come. Any suggestions/ideas? Thanks to all

    This is TMS - making you afraid, and giving you symptoms to keep you from doing things and feeling safe is exactly TMS.
    For many people this means not just feeling safe with symptoms but safe in life, and this may sound funny but feeling safe with the uncertain the unpredictable and what you don’t or can’t know… knowing you can handle things.

    You developed tendinitis because your brain wants to keep you safe, and small because it perceives a threat. It is not because of all the thoughts you have made up as to why this might be happening - this is doubt is TMS, and just another defense mechanism to keep you from seeing the truth.
    It is all mind body symptoms, there is no reason other than to keep you safe. Your wrists and ankles hurt but they are fine.
    My suggestion is to read Dr. Sarno again. Read a little bit everyday until your brain gets it. Use your hands and wrists and ankles even if they hurt. You are fine and it is only a sensation of pain, nothing more.
    What other TMS work are you doing? Have you tried and completed the free SEP here?

    I second this advice. I've gone back to reading or, rather, listening to Dr Sarno... Steve O and Dr Kevin Martillo Viner (who has also written a TMS book) recommend listening to the audio of Dr Sarno reading his book 'Healing Back Pain' as they found it sinks into the brain so much better than reading it to yourself, so that's what I'm doing and I believe they're right as what I've listened to keeps popping up in my thoughts throughout the day. I have improved a lot but still get TMS tendon pain and I'd completely forgotten about Dr Sarno mentioning about it quite a lot in that book.
