Pain from tennis ball?

I have overcome almost a year of sciatic pain. I read about the benefits of rolling on a tennis ball (on the lower back) and coincidentally I experienced lots of pain the day after I used it! What are your thoughts on this? Anyone used a ball on the lower tailbone and experienced pain or relief after?
Could this be TMS or the ball??? I’m trying to be realistic here but also can’t believe this could cause so much pain.

Of course it can be tms.
If you are doing anything physical to treat your pain, or physical condition it will reinforce the fact that you believe the condition IS physical and not tms.

Hi there GPF24, when I was experiencing back pain and sciatica and before I had heard of TMS, I too tried the tennis ball method to relieve my symptoms-it made them worse and, as Cactusflower states, you are mistakenly feeding into the belief that this is a physical condition to be relieved by physical means. I totally get that you are desperate to do anything to get your back into a comfortable state but I don’t think this is the answer. Don’t stress about it though, any ‘genuine’ discomfort from such an exercise will resolve quickly and if discomfort is out of proportion to the exercise or of unusually long duration then that is the clearest indication that you are simply dealing with TMS and need to examine your thoughts and feelings about what is going on in your life instead. Hope it resolves quickly and stay away from the tennis balls!

Geez that’s nuts considering how tennis balls are used in physical therapy etc! I hear you completely and I thank you both for your advice. This is so flipping frustrating!!!!

This is such a great (simple) way to say this.
I suggest that this is what @GPF24 and myself need to re-read and internalize!
    Thanks.
