Pain introduced while exercising?

I've really been doing a good job with resuming normal exercising and activity. Yesterday, during a resistance training session I was doing some lower body squats (single leg, bodyweight) and during one rep in could feel my low back on the left side tighten. I didn't continue to push to avoid making it worse but I was left with this question:

I know my chronic low back pain is TMS (and I had all but eliminated it!) however in a flare like this, is the pain from the physical?

How about you reframe your thoughts:
“My anxiety makes my brain on high alert.
It is to keep me safe and be on guard, so when I feel a muscle tighten, as it should at times, my default has been that I’m sensing danger, even if there is none. My anxiety snd fear spike.
I’m ok, and now I know, I can use my TMS skills to recognize my reaction, and begin responding in a softer way, recognizing I’m just training my brain. I’m ok.”

Your mind and body are working as they should, you just need to recognize when fear thoughts are useful, and when they are not.

Great job working on conquering fears!
