Having a bad flare up and am very angry and frustrated. Not at anything specific, just the pain I think.

I really feel like just a reaming a s hitting pillows and whatnot , but the Alan Gordon program says anger over symptoms just reinforces it.

What are people's experience with this?

Your anger at the pain which is natural is just part of the distraction strategy of TMS. It keeps you squarely focused on the pain and what you are actually doing is giving it tremendous power and making yourself a victim in the process. True power is INDIFFERENCE. When the symptoms and sensations no longer affect you whatsoever, your mood or mindset, you have won. True Success is measured by how little you care and how little you fear, NOT by how infrequent or mild the symptoms are etc. Once you really really get this, you shift mindset and have flipped the whole script. You are then in the drivers seat and in control when and unphased by symptoms. You see them clearly for what they are. Just false alarms. You are not in danger. The question you need to address is what are you REALLY angry about in your life??? What is really going on in your day to day that you don't feel whole or fulfilled or happy??? Just as symptoms cannot harm you, you have to teach the brain that those scary emotions like anger, can't harm you either. They are SAFE and TEMPORARY. It is all the normal part of being human.
