Relapse!

    Darn! I have to admit to myself that I'm having a TMS relapse. It's my original diagnosis of symptoms of fibromyalgia (overall muscular-skeletal pain) that has come back. I first recovered from this in 2013 and have a had about one relapse a year since that time, though frequently the TMS symptoms I experienced post initial recovery were not fibromyalgia.

    As usual, it has taken me a while to admit to myself that what I'm experiencing is TMS. I have had these excuses and explanations for a couple of weeks now:
    • It's normal aging.
    • It's because I haven't been exercising enough, so now when I do I have pain afterwards.
    • It's because winter has arrived and it's cold outside.
    Today I had to admit to myself that I'm having a relapse. Now I have to follow the advice that I dish out on this Forum frequently. Pick a TMS Recovery Program and do it daily. Keep at it, but don't work on it more than about an hour a day. If at the end of the Program, I still have symptoms, do it again or pick another Program and complete.

    I had purchased Nicole Sachs's new book a while back: Mind Your Body. I haven't read it yet, so now I will and I'll follow her program of spending 20 minutes/day doing Journal Speak, followed by 10 minutes of meditation. The other 30 minutes/day I'll spend reading TMS theory and Success Stories.

    So now I have another opportunity to learn things about myself. I already feel a little better by admitting I have TMS, so the recovery process starts now.

    @Ellen,
    So sorry to hear this! But you are a champ at getting rid of TMS. You’ll be better in no time. Good for you for admitting it. There’s no shame in TMS. It’s like you said: just another chance to learn about yourself. Behind you all the way!

    I heard some people were sick during the holiday, and then in the gym it was packed during Thanksgiving weekend. People were chatting like oh we will have so and so over (close family members) might be stressful etc. So that could be a lot of triggers and throw one back again to victimhood repressed emotions TMS etc. Dan had a really nice clip about getting bored of the past recently and it might help. So many times symptoms kick in because we want to be that child in the book like no david among family and still be accepted and seen, yet we feel so unsafe about that and we need to "behave" and "achieve" or adapt to a form untrue to ourselves to be accepted by loved ones.
