    Hi all

I’m new to TMS Wiki, but not new to TMS !

Been on a healing journey 2 years, last 1 year with TMS knowledge.

To date I’ve had almost 100 symptoms ! Some for the duration, some for weeks, months , others for a day

However, few months ago I started to develop something bizarre that I just don’t know how to approach !

My arms, hands, feet turn purple blotchy with the slightest coolness / cold, even indoors opening the fridge. Then any slight warmth, heat, the skin fils with blood and turns red and blood vessels / veins swell ( even washing up in warm water !! )

It’s back and forth all day long , and in heat it’s started to affect skin on my chest, legs too.

Few minutes out of that temp and it disappears or goes the other way !

Had loads of tests and scans to rule stuff out, so I believe it’s TMS - as in it’s an extreme reaction from my nervous system to over dilating and constricting blood vessels in response to slight temperature changes .

But I suppose just looking for anyone who’s ever dealt with this and successfully healed from it ?

Raynauds was ruled out as was erythromyalgia as it didn’t fit their ‘criteria’ !

Also have a slight worry it’s causing damage as my skin never seems to be a normal colour !

    @Daisymm76
Lots of !’s in your post illuminate your freaking-out, fear, and anxiety over this new symptom.
    Good getting it checked out.
You mention TMS knowledge but your message focuses only on pretty precise descriptions of your symptoms. Nothing about your stress or psychological state or any TMS work you’ve engaged in.. and after all these are the things TMS is truly about.

So, @Daisymm76, what does your journey entail? Knowledge is the starting point, but it's not enough for most.

It sounds like your TMS brain might have run out of typical "everyday TMS" symptoms and is starting to get really creative in its desperation to keep you in fear and doubt. 100 symptoms in two years, apparently many of which have been and gone, indicates good knowledge of the TMS brain mechanism - but the severity and bizarre nature of the new symptom indicates that you're probably only scratching the surface of what really needs to be done, which is to make a serious commitment to emotional examination and vulnerability.
Weeeell, that's okay for complete beginners, but we refer to this, rather pejoratively, as "reassurance seeking". It's actually a distraction created by your TMS brain which fools you into thinking you're taking constructive action, but in reality it keeps you spinning your wheels in doubt - which is exactly where your brain wants you to remain.

Which means you are in the right place, so you can describe your knowledge level and tell us what you are doing to proactively break this cycle?

Hi, I did a lot of journaling and unearthed lots of things that I worked through. I have worked with somatics and nervous system tools. But earlier this year I was rushed to A&E with a suspected stroke. It turned out it wasn’t but this then took me back to the medical model of testing again and yes, threw me into fear . They were testing me for all sorts including cancer . This is when these symptoms worsened. So I know it was through fear at this time that it was something serious. I have recently had the medical all clear but I suppose yes I am still assurance seeking that this could too be TMS. In my heart, I truly believe it is but yes, the fear is there that I can’t resolve it, and that’s keeping me stuck now I think .

Then go back to doing your work. There are things that still trigger you - which I think most people have even after doing some work…recognize that the work never ends. You might need to keep up with it because you tend to fall back into stress and thought patterns after awhile. Just keep your journal hand and utilize somatic skills regularly (whatever that means for you).

I had this exact thing. Raynauds/EM-like color changes and blood pooling from heat. Take my word for it and just ignore it, get back to your life. It got better for me when I stopped focusing on it, it took a while though.

This sort of vascular response to heat/cold is normal to some extent, it is an autonomic nervous system response to temperature. TMS can simply magnify it to extremes.

The medical term for the purple/bluish hue when cold is Acrocyanosis. The blotchiness is called Livedo Reticularis, quite common. Its all harmless.

@Daisymm76 Wow, here is the exact response you were searching for--somebody who dealt with this and successfully got through it....and provided a name for it!

I can relate to what you're dealing with. I had some really outrageous symptoms a couple times, and it seemed so important to find someone else who had that same set of symptoms.
In the end, TMS is TMS and the answers/successful path forward are the same no matter what symptoms are thrown at us. If you've had 100 different symptoms, you definitely know this.

For me, no real progress was made when I found someone else with my symptoms. That was a great thing to reflect on. It was like I was obsessed with the wrong question and when the answer came, there was no real insight or improvement.

Check this thread out, where it's very similar. The very first response, by @Booble , is excellent and there are some other good ones in there. Sometimes, for me, seeing someone else go through the motions is helpful and can allow me not to spin my wheels.

Thankyou for responding . I read back through your posts - seems you were in the thick of it at the time

Thankyou, yes I need to stop seeking reassurance . Many many symptoms have resolved through this work . You are right - finding someone with similar who recovered doesn’t make it go away!!!
