Stuffy Nose & Chest Pressure After Recovering from Other Chronic Symptoms

    Hi all,

This is my first time posting on here.

I am currently experiencing lots of doubt as to whether my current set of symptoms are indeed TMS or not and would appreciate anyone's insight on helping me determine what this is.

I've been having a chronic stuffy nose and chest pressure for approximately 8 months now and it is driving me INSANE. The stuffy nose came on suddenly, literally from one day to the next, with chest pressure and tightness building slowly over the following days after the initial onset of stuffy nose. I had never had any allergies, or had any nasal issues in the past, so I was extremely perplexed about this stuffy nose. I did a CT scan of my sinuses and x ray of my chest and both were cleared. No issues noted.

I initially thought this was TMS because the symptom came on about a week or two after I fully recovered from chronic dizziness, which I dealt with for about 5 months. Not to mention, the dizziness was a symptom imperative from my original symptom of heart palpitations, which lasted about 6 months. In the past 3 years I've had chronic nerve pain, burning sensations, eye flashes, head pains, stomach fullness, and tinnitus. None of these have lasted for any significant amount of time because I never worry about them NOT being TMS, and so they are always a flash in a pan.

The stuffy nose and chest pressure however have been a game changer for me, since I feel like I am not breathing and may very well die.

I have found reprieve from them for a little while and had been getting better for a few weeks, maybe a month or so, but they've kicked up for the last two weeks and I don't know if I can handle it anymore.

    Please help.

    Hi @merrymery13
    Welcome!
Your post spoke of a previous, wonderful recovery from symptoms.
What practices did you use to recover?
In your post, I also notice you do not mention anything psychological. You don’t talk about any stress you felt at the onset of your current symptoms, you purely discuss the physical discomfort and your reactions of what sounds like fear and frustration.
It’s always helpful to remind ourselves that TMS is a psychological phenomenon - purely the sensory manifestation of psychological pain and internally generated stress.
