"Three Trees Once Grew:" on pain and pruning

Hi everyone,

I'm a writer and editor and recently I wrote an essay about my recent health crisis, which I now understand was at least 50% TMS (and is now -- what I'm going through now that my body is healthy again -- entirely TMS). I thought I would share it:

It has a Christian subtext. My husband tells me that I will come out of this transformed, able to finally face the anxiety that as plagued me nearly all my life. These severe mercies are terribly hard to bear. Terribly. But so often I hear recovered people say they look back in gratitude...I believe that will be me sometime!

And if you are not yet recovered, I believe that it will also someday be you!
