To all my friends on this forum a very happy Thanksgiving. No matter where you are in your
healing process, there is so much to be thankful for. I know myself sometimes I overlook all
my blessings because I get so caught up in life or even this healing process. When I am thankful
even for the small things like heat in my home, a warm bed....it definitely ignites a wonderful
sense to love my life even in the midst of symptoms.

My husband told me a few weeks ago to concentrate on all the good things in my life. Make
a list he said and rehearse it everyday. I did this and although I don't rehearse it everyday
when I do take the time to slowing go through the list, I find I have a warm smile on my
face. It is so easy to loose track of the good things when we are experiencing symptoms.

Whether you are alone or with family this Thanksgiving, I would like to encourage everyone,
especially myself to focus on all the positive things. And I encourage myself everyday to
choose life, no matter what the circumstances.

Have a very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving my dear friends.

I've been keeping a "Good Things Diary" for the past several months. Every night before bed, I write down three good things that happened during the day. It's similar to a Gratitude Journal, yet a little different. It's a good reminder to look for the good in life, because it is there, even in the smallest things...like a kitty crawling in my lap while I meditate, or recognizing the interconnectedness of all life as I took a spider outside instead of killing it.

    Happy Thanksgiving! :)

What a great idea!!! I usually just say what I am thankful for but I am going to keep this thankful list in my journal. I think doing before you go to bed
puts you in a peaceful state.

There is a book called A Thousand Gifts . I will check on who the author is but she was very depressed and fearful, since she was a child. It was
like a cloud that followed her wherever she went. Her friend suggested to write down 1.000 reasons why she was thankful. She started doing this and realized
there was so much to be thankful for, despite the anxiety, depression, and fear. To her surprise, I think she was driving and before she even finished
the list; the anxiety, depression and fear left her and has never returned. It is such a wonderful book of encouragement about how this young woman
finds her way back to life and living after being in such a dark tunnel since childhood. all through the power of gratitude!!! I will find out who the
    author is.

Happy Thanksgiving to you girls, too. The list of things that make us thankful and a "Good Things Diary" are
great ideas.Writing about good things before bedtime is a great way to get a restful night's sleep.

I'm thankful we've only gotten a half inch of snow today. The first of the season.

I was able to use a wide shop broom to brush away the snow. Only 1/4 inch deep. Easy job
and just a wee bit of back pain, nothing to think about.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! And yes...gratitude is a powerful tool. I often end any journaling with things I'm grateful for....especially if I've done a lot of ranting in my journal. :D

One thing I am grateful for....this forum and the wonderful people here.

Thanks, GR. I think everyone can be in more than one place at a time.
I will be at your turkey table in spirit and really thank you for the invitation.

I love Thanksgiving because it is so warm and fuzzy and although I love
Christmas there is no commercialism or gift exchanging.
It's family and friends getting together. I remember many wonderful
    Thanksgivings.

One stands out in my memory...
I was studying journalism at Michigan State University and decided
to stay in the dorm on campus instead of going home to then Skokie, IL.

I didn't have a dollar in my pocket, and neither did my roommate,
a farm boy who also did not go home for that holiday. We were not
    really friends, but got along.

We didn't have anywhere to go for Thanksgiving dinner, and our dorm
cafeteria was closed for the holiday weekend, but both of us
had saved some small boxes of Cornflakes from previous breakfasts
there, and that, with water, would be our big holiday dinner.
We ate that, then on a cold but snowless afternoon took a walk on campus,
    which was deserted.

When we came to the Union Building where the student daily newspaper
office was on the fourth floor, I noticed a light was on there. We went up
to the office and saw that the secretary was at her desk. "Would you like
your pay?" she asked me. I was one of the five night editors and got
$10 cash each week. "Would I?!" I replied. She gave me $10 and I told
my farm boy roommate we would spend it on a Thanksgiving dinner.

We took a bus to Lansing about a half hour from campus and went to
a restaurant and spent nearly the entire $10 on two turkey dinners.

It was one of the best Thanksgivings I ever had.

I'll never forget that Thanksgiving at college.
There are few things lonelier than staying on campus when
just about everyone else has gone home for a holiday.

I've thawed out the frozen Butterball turkey, 13 pounds, and
so it's ready to roast tomorrow. And I went online to find recipes
for sweet potato casseroles and herb stuffing.

Annie is going to go crazy smelling everything baking.

Have a warm and fuzzy Thanksgiving.
