TMS doctor in Miami?

    Hi everybody,

I have a friend that would like to visit a tms doctor in Miami. Maybe one of you knows any name. I only remember that the one that was near Miami did not have any appointments some time ago, so if anything changed and you know, please let me know (she prefers in Spanish if possible). Thank you.

I was really surprised when this friend called me because I have been trying to help my other friend realize that she has tms for a long time, she is constantly sick with something, but she does not believe it. One day when I was with the friend that called me, who has a severe arthritis, which I read in Sarnos book it is tms, I told her I have something to tell her later. I really forgot but then she called me and she agreed with the diagnosis right away and she even told me she remembers the day of her onset, isn't something? Here I am trying to tell my friend for a long time that she has tms, she keeps going to all kinds of traditional and alternative therapies, and I only comment something to her friend and she accepts it right away. I already sent her the link to Sarno's books in Spanish, but she would also like to see a doctor in person.
    Leonor.

    Hi Leonor,

Unfortunately, Dr. Scott Brady is the only Florida-based TMS doctor I know of, and he's still not accepting new patients. So sorry I can't be of more help!

This is frustrating, and I'm sure it's painful to see your friend suffering and seeking these therapies that don't work. In a way, though, it also shows just how essential believing and accepting the TMS diagnosis is to overcoming it. It's not enough to get the TMS diagnosis; you have to really believe it, and be ready to believe it, for healing to occur. It's so tough to see someone you care about struggling, especially if the answer is right in front of them, but at the end of the day, they have to make that decision to explore the diagnosis and what that really means for them, in order to fully and truly heal.

    Hi Becca,
Thank you for your answer. Dr. Scott Brady is also very far from here, but I think she would go anyway. If you or anybody knows of a therapist or doctor that can do it online let me know, but it has to be in Spanish for her.

There are a number of TMS therapists who do online consultations (a list of them are here) but I have no clue whether any of them speak Spanish or not...I believe there's something in the works about creating a Spanish TMS resource but I think that's more of a community resource, like this forum & the TMS Wiki. I will definitely let you know if I hear of anything else, though.

You dont need a tms dr have your friends get a full medical checkup to make sure they dont have any organic or structural issues and proceed with reading Steve O book and doing the sep.

Boston, sometime going to conventional medicine and get full med check up can be the worst thing you can do when you have tms/anxiety. Anything "wrong" they see during your check up will have a structural or biological causes. We all know that drug, surgery, or PT is costly, can be dangerous, and won't get rid of tms.
If you can afford it and if one is nearby, going to a tms doctor is the best thing you can do when you think you have tms symptoms.

I never consulted a TMS doctor and healed from reading Sarno, Ozsanich, and others, and believing 100 percent that my back ache was from TMS. The Structured Educational Program journaling led me to discover repressed emotions from my boyhood and I healed. But some people need reassurance ethat their pain is from TMS and is not caused by anything structural, and even if that shows up in tests, the cause may be TMS.

I'm watching a movie now on tv with Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy in "Adam's Rib" and he tells her to stop living in the past. He got that right! Living in the present moment is a lot better and healthier.

I went to one and found it to be a waste $350 all he did was look at me test results gave me a examination which was a joke and spoke to me for. 1.5 hrs about what was going on in my life which was GOOD . But again for me i was cleared by my regular pcp told me he could not find anything wrong and said to speak to a therpist about my anxiety and pain

Or maybe she does have something organic or strucually wrong with her and it needs to be determined. I feel its good to maybe get a second opinion from a tms dr but for the actual medical clearnce go to your pcp for a full workup.
