Hi, my second lower molar fell down, remaining only the root of the tooth. I immediately felt a sensation on the uvula, like something was stuck in there, or a gag reflex felling. But I notice that the tooth was on my tongue, Im not sure if I recover every piece of it, plus the composite.

This was a tooth very short and had a root canal done, 10 years ago. This feeling in the uvula never went away, but it was mild. It was like a gag sensation. It feels like the uvula is longer and it is touching my tongue.

After this I replaced the missing tooth with composite, but this sensation was still here.

After 3 weeks, I started looking for answers. I went to the doctor to know if it was a DST, or a bacterial infection if some sort. He gave me antibiotics, which I took, but never got better.

After this, it sometimes I felt like I was eating my uvula. I ask? Could this lowering of the uvula have to do with the neck muscles adjusting and compressing the nerves of the uvula? I also feel a change in taste and like the roof top of my mouth is made of cork.

Is it normal to feel your úvula? Could some small piece of the tooth be still stacked, after a month? Unfortunately I spend hours watching úvula videos, where people complain about the same thing.

After this i start having this dry mouth cough, and now I am having difficulty to swallow. I have this globus sensation, they is making me crazy. I cannot Bend my head forward, and sleep with my head lied down. I also developed a change in taste.

Summing it up, I went from a mild sensation in my úvula to much worse, after I started looking for answers, and going to doctors to find answers at a physical level.

I have an history of TMS manifestations, which I overcome in the past, with all kind of symptoms. I literally fell weird sensation all over my body in the past, including a similar one to this, but related to heart palpitations.

I'm quite sure this is TMS, but the problem is that it all started with a clear cause, my tooth loss. I now that the cranial nerves are all connected. The trigeminal nerve enervates the teeth and the uvula.

Also, loosing my teeth is creating a lot of emotional stress for me. I'm scared because I don't have the means to put implants. One strange, thing is that I felt the same sensation, when I was trying to stop crying in front of my kid.

I'm eager to hear what you think.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Well, since nobody reply, can at least someone comment on my theory? Im always doing an weightlifting exercise, at home, that puts a lot of force/sress in the neck. Also, I have increased it in the last month. When the tooth felt I was clining it, and I always clean my theets bending forward. Also, I did the same workout exercice minutes early. Could this exercise compressed the nerves that goes to the throat And control swollowing, minutes later? Because after the tooth fell down I bend it backwards, and maybe what I felt was the compression of the nerve that controls de uvula. Maybe it was a coincidence, and both TMS, and the continuation of the exercice was just exarcerbating everything. Thanks

Oh my god, I remember vividly now. I already felt this. I was then diagnosed with a thyroiditis. I had the same sensation in my throat. I've been through a lot of stress lately....

Hi Filipe. I'm afraid that your posts are rather difficult to understand, due to language differences and a lot of misspelled English words. This makes it hard for people to know how to respond. But I will try.

It sounds like you have been medically examined for these most recent symptoms and the doctors have told you that they can't find anything wrong, is that correct? If this is true, that's your first reason to believe this is all TMS, which means your new symptoms are stress-based.

You understand about Dr John Sarno's TMS theory and perhaps have successfully recovered in the past. This is your second reason to believe.

You are currently under stress, and you are generally an anxious person who tends to worry about things that might happen, or obsesses about things from the past. This is the third reason to believe.

You asked us to comment on very specific physical symptoms, which we cannot do because we are not medical professionals. The medical professionals have told you there is nothing wrong but you don't believe them, so why would you believe us?

You think that reassurance from random strangers on a forum is what you need, but this is your anxiety brain making up useless activities in order to keep you in fear, and it will convince you that whatever we say about your symptoms isn't good enough, and it will convince you to keep looking. It will do this as long as you allow this to go on.

What is actually happening is the vicious cycle of fear/anxiety-more fear/more anxiety, because your anxiety is telling your primitive survival brain that there must be a sabre-tooth tiger out there waiting to eat you.

This is all that our brains understand. The actual physical safety of the modern world is not within the knowledge or the understanding of our primitive instinctive survive-at-all-costs brains.

You've got to get help to get your anxiety and panic under control. Look for anxiety resources in your language and start there.

    Good luck!

Thanks for replying. The medical professional says I have nothing, but I still feel the lump on the back of my throat (I still haven't done any blood test, namely to my thyroid). They only say it's impossible that my tooth falling down is related with my symptoms, or that the tooth restoration is in my throat, or that causes nerve damage or desalinment on my moth, etc.

I remembered I felt this sensation before, when I had a thyroid dysfunction. I felt it for a long time. The problem here is the coincidence, of the falling of my tooth and the start of the symptoms. I also felt this sensation before when I eat certain foods, like some sort of allergy.

My question is, is thyroid dysfunction stress related? I also believe Dr Sarno says allergies are TMS equivalents.

My only concern here is nerve damage from a tooth falling, or maybe it releases some allergens toxic elements that were under the tooth restoration, and we're drained to my mouth. Could this be possible? Do allergies manifest that fast in the body? Either the uvula is swollen , or the tongue enlarged. I remembered also the burning mouth syndrome.

What I want you guys to help me with, is to figure it out if the toot falling out, and the onset of my symptoms was just a coincidence, based on what I told you. I'm a very stressful guy, when I eat fish I always feel a spine on my throat. I'm deeply afraid that it hsappens. On the other hand, the loss of tooth also provoque me a feeling of sadness, that reflected on my thyroid. My quest to figure out what was wrong with me lead me to the enlarged thyroid, Bad once I realised that my choking sensation is far better, because I reduce stress, thus, the thyroid inflammation.

Now there is only the mild sensation, that increases with stress, but it is still uncomfortable

    Thanks

Doing this for you would be a diagnosis and we can't do that. You need to make that determination on your own, or find a mindbody doctor to do so.

The only physical/medical advice we can give you is to believe what the medical professionals are telling you.

Every time I wonder about the connection between a physical condition and stress, I just google it. You can do the same with thyroid. For example, start with Can thyroid problems be triggered by stress?
It only took a few seconds for me to find the following:
    The Stress-Thyroid Connection
... chronic stress leads to consistently high cortisol levels, which can interfere with the production and conversion of thyroid hormones. This disruption can lead to hypothyroidism, where the thyroid produces too little hormone, or hyperthyroidism, where it produces too much hormone.
So go get that tested. If there's nothing wrong, it's your TMS brain mechanism recreating old symptoms just to create fear.

ALL physical processes in our bodies, and all physical sensations in our bodies, are generated by our brains. This is a neuroscientific FACT. On this forum we discuss emotional and mental health, which you can join, but first you must reach your own conclusion that your symptoms are stress-based.
The evidence for that is strong, but we can not make that determination for you.

I will say this: you've got to get your anxiety under control. I recommend professional therapeutic help for that, due to your extremely high level.
